Universade 2019.
“Are you guys ever happy?? They just won a gold medal! The disgruntled parents or players need to give it a break. They had to pick the team off paper and didn't even get a training session together until they arrived in Italy. Some of you trolls will never be satisfied”
Agreed, BUT you do have to look at it lightly, it was not the USA they beat really but uni team of players, few of which would never make a USA national side, in either the men’s or women’s.
Always nice to bring home some medals but it shouldn’t be headlined as “emerging boomers and opals” if they have to simply pick from paper, lol

Well, congratulations to all concerned, the girls and boys (young women & men), a gold and a bronze, not too shabby!

Vasiljevic's 33 points powered Australia to bronze in the men.
Dejan Vasiljevic powers Emerging Boomers to Universiade bronze

^^^^ Well there you go, lol

Curtin by the way is in Western Australia according to game commentator

Wonder how Reid is attending Curtin University from Frankston lol

Nice hands by mcspadden. Should run over them now.

Should be thrashing Mississippi state. All there seniors have gone. We are facing a team of noobs to college.

None of our players are near the senior opals. Not even ezi, Molloy has destroyed her game.
At juniors Ezi use to have some tenacity, she would use her athleticism to block shots, averaging several a game and now someone has told her not to leave her feet and has become a non factor on D. She Struggles to close out, misses easy layups and she’s been poor from the ft line. Shooting just over 50%. Not sure she can make layups with her opposite hand either. Needs to get away from the boomers and get a skills trainer just like smith in the wnba needs to do. Playing in Korea in the offseason won’t help that.

Most of these girls are 22, shouldn’t be making these mistakes at this level.

Wow, this team is bad. Seebohms maybe too timid for this level. Maybe stick to u16/u17s and development of players.
Disgusting behaviour by froling in the first half.

ANON, I know most of those kids, granted not all, so if you have the facts you so lovingly like to talk about, how about letting us all know which kid on either team has just enrolled simply to play in this tournament?
Yes, I am calling you out on this for BS!

Alpha, mate you might want to check your facts re what actually goes on
They don’t have eligibility if they have been out of uni for a year, that includes those who went to college in America , so yes some are in fact told to read enroll in a course that when they return they promptly drop out of before they have to pay any fees, how is that not playing the system

The rules are more rigorous than that anon, you better check them out. Recent graduates are also eligible. USA is always represented by a college due to NCAA regulation, but the competition does get a great deal of attention in Europe. And obviously in Australia since the coaches are really good. So I would not really call it 'a holiday competition'. I remember the current Serbian coach removing all those from the senior squad for not taking part in the competition 2 years ago. So while most (if not all) of Australian men and women may not play in NBA/WNB/NBL/WNBL they deserve our respect for making themselves available to represent the country. As for the selection, hard to say that someone deserved or didn't to be on that team, but certainly hard to criticize the selection when women will play for gold and men have a chance to medal too.

We just need to chill about university games. Not sure what college is representing USA in women's but Clemson is in men's.So all you are really playing against is a school if you make final.

How did they pick those guards, surely we have better than that, the turn overs between Rocci and Reid alone were abysmal, it’s been the same every game even on the easy wins
Seems they have simply filled it with players who score big in their respective teams because they are the only ones who shoot the ball, and have failed to look at how a player actually would contribute when surrounded by others who do the same
No organisation at all from the PG, and why are both Froling girls in that team
Once again it’s not what you know but who you know
Players not even in uni but told to quickly sign into a course before the games, makes a mockery of the system really
Why did they not hold tryouts ?

Escaped with that win. Not sure we deserved that. Through to the final vs USA.

Sharp was great as a junior but her game has fallen off a cliff.
