So talking about State players it’s quite an impressive list of players for U18 so far.

Years ago

In the scheme of things state players dont mean much in this situation. in a team of 9-10 players you have a mix of first year and second year players many who have never played together before and the likelihood of some players getting very few minutes. u16 state has now passed so theoretically there are no state players on the team there are now five u18 SA squad players who are yet to make the state teams but when you factor in positions, injury, first game, summer why even take the time to mention a win by 6 points who cares and what a time waster you are.

Years ago

Calm down and explain yourself properly as you aren’t making any sense!

SO IT IS INTERESTING AFTER ONE ROUND OF THE SEASON WHAT SOME TEAMS WERE LIKE CONSIDERING THAT THEIR COACHES GOT A BASHING ON HERE. EVEN WITH AT LEAST FOUR STATE PLAYER NORWOOD ONLY WON BY 6 POINTS.

(Part time DO) North B+
(Part time DO) West B
(Full time DO) Norwood C+ (wildcard)
(Full time DO) Centrals C (slipping)
(Part time DO) Eastern C- (only due to 3 decent name coaches)
(Full time DO) South D (worst line-up by a mile)

Woodville ??

"Besides is it easy to get good coaches these days that don’t have children involved"

NO. It is not easy, not easy at all. Delivering high-quality service to your members is definitely not easy.

So yes, getting OK coaches to coach their kid's team is easy.

From what I can see, none of the Girls coaches at Norwood are likely to coach their own children?

Maybe U16 Girls but that’s about it

Anyone hanging shit on Ali as a coach has no idea. He and Speary do a great job with their 18s. Had some success early on but it's been lean pickings the last few years, through no fault of either of them.

Brunson, typical ole school mindset.

Ole school beleives, talent makes the program not the other way round.

It IS environment and time, effort and expertise invested into the athletes that develops them to their potential.

Ole school believes. Treat your players like crap and make it about coaches because talent will ultimately rise to the top - is ole school bulldust.

How many young athletes at West have hit their full potential in the last decade?

I love sitting back and laughing at how clueless these club bods are, because that is way it has always being done.

Not 1 committee member in South's Div 1 line-up. Not sure where you are making that up from. It is an ordinary line-up. Dickel clearly didn't recruit anything to bring to South. All talk no results

See that Woodville are slowly leaking coaches on FB unless it's somewhere else I haven't seen.
14 boys must have a good team, Tim Berry doesn't coach inferior kids, normally hops to where contenders are.

Mavs are slightly off the boil on their coaching appointments compared to other clubs but in reality what do they have to pick from? I don't know any coach that is chomping at the bit to be at that club. Good luck to them its a growing area and perhaps this will bring people in? Having your headquarters based on school grounds isn't ideal as anything can happen

Correct
Also It is quite funny how the club perceives themselves. That there lies the problems.
Not a solid argument re coaches as short term thought considered only and previous recent history has been discounted.
Post again around state champs results.
I hope for the clubs sake also that there is a plan when the honeymoon of hire of the new school stadium comes to an end.
Hope there is an option for kids in the area going forward as the next population demands it.
The club has a great opportunity to embrace so let’s hope a change and a re focus will cash in.
Still need a few more changes/people managed to get it done.

U12 – Boyd Fitton ??
U14 – Daniel Wray ??
U16 – Haydon Sewell ??
U18 – Daniel Stratford (Parent but looks like a decent choice)

Mavericks line-up is not exactly D1 & D2 standard appointments apart from about 3 in both boys and girls. Unfortunately there has been some really good coaches that were disenchanted or just plain frustrated with the committee or "development vision" of the club over the past decade and have moved to clubs that offer a better pathway or coaching opportunity.

Most good coaching directors actually head hunt coaches that they believe will both benefit the age group and the club, Mavs have burnt so many bridges in the past that this isn't a realistic option anymore and parents are asked do you know how to coach?

Anonymous
Years ago

Oh please get off it
Due diligence??

Anonymous
Years ago

One more year for Mavs to bottom out completely it’s seems.
When is the new committee going to be announced or are they struggling to fill spots there too?
Hell might even start getting some families back if they take the opportunity to change.
Could they even get players back in pl if there is a change? Let’s hope so unless there whole goal is to be one big social club with eastern hills!
Have to make some ballsy stance first but looking unlikely with coaches announced. All time low everywhere with coaches announced except u18 boys.
Due diligence? When club appointed others - I think not.

You're the perfect example of the parent best seen leaving the place. Nothing worse than parents in a Club forming their expert opinion on Coaches, knowing better and shipping out to another Club immediately. The lessons taught to their children is instant gratification, me,me,me. No admirable traits of Club loyalty and sticking by a team through thick and thin.Grass is always greener types are NEVER great Club stalwarts. See ya!

Anonymous
Years ago

As much as clubs providing some substance around their coaching announcements these days is good I don't understand why everyone wants to know before hand.

Clubs that are successful at development have a highly experienced, expert Coaching Director in place, long history of attracting and appointing outstanding coaches and a proven player development culture, process, prioritisation and practice over many years.

Coaching appointments do help predict trends and direction but if you are deciding your club on who is coaching next season, rather than longer term components, then you are moving or staying for the wrong reasons.

Anonymous
Years ago

As far as Eastern Mavs go as a club "you reap what you sow". If the culture is terrible and there is no direction from the top down you will seal your fate for many more years to come. Nothing is a quick fix after years of damage and many coaches choose not to be a part of a club with a bleak future. Juniors (parents) will take the option of travelling down the freeway to be involved with a club that actually offers a future.

Anonymous
Years ago

Mavs listings must be an all time low for a club that doesn't have many teams? A club in free fall!!!!
