Boomers v Canada
Ouch. Serious reality check there.
We can obviously play better than that, but personnel-wise this team does not look threatening at all.

Pangos with Nash-like dominance ala last time Boomers played Canada.

And only 3 players with 3PAs: Mills, Ingles, Delly.

Bolden with just 4 minutes at the half is surprising. Everyone thought that he would be our primary 4-man.

Sobey with a very shaky start as an A-team member. Not much combo for a combo guard at this level.

Similarities with the approach of dealing with Bogut to make him unplayable as in the NBA playoffs: lineup with 5 shooters. Bogut struggles to close out to 3-pt shooters. Lots of open looks from 3 for Canada.

Perfect replacement for Andersen then.

Don't panic. It is a warm up game. Chance to run all combinations to see what works and what doesn't.

I wonder if Lemanis is holding back on a switching defense lineup.

The Perth crowd really holds onto grudges, even when the full-strength national team is being introduced.

Thanks, koberulz.
Gotta laugh out of the two Scrubbs in their squad.

I'd prefer if they chose to interview someone who is not the most insignificant member of the team.

Does anyone know of a livestats link?

It's the first time a real Boomers team has played here in my memory, and definitely the first time I'll be seeing them live. I'd be much more excited about it if it hadn't been promoted as potentially having a score of NBA players only to have a mere five, one of whom I've never even heard of.

Plus a storms about to hit Perth and the Craft Beer Festival is also on across the road...fun times.

Any chance to see our major tournament Boomers is exciting for me. Sure, there are a lot of outs, but being able to see guys like Delly, Joe, Patty and Baynes playing together is a privilege. Hopefully we can play well without giving too much of the game plan away for Game 1 of the WC.
I'd expect Canada to be a little more drilled than us early, given they've already had some hit outs, but hopefully our class can come through.
To everyone that is going, have a good one.

I wonder what impact the 5:30 tipoff will have on the crowd numbers. I luckily work around the corner from the arena so I can run over just after 5, but a lot of people will be impacted.
Thurs/Fri Eagles and Dockers crowds struggle to fill out until around quarter time or so and they start around 6:10.
Wildcats games have been good on those days but they start between 6:30-7:30 local time.
The arena is easier to get to than the stadium, but i wouldn't be surprised if the crowd is pretty average at tipoff before filling out more.

Just had a quick look through Canada's roster
Definitely not writing them off!
Cory Joseph, Khem Birch, Kevin Pangos, Phillip Scrub, Melvin Ejim- starting 5- these guys have good credentials in either NBA or top Europe leagues

Senegal getting destroyed
Canada lost to Nigeria 90-81

Yep, I think Melbourne fans have actually ended up with the better deal even after all those big US withdrawals. At least they still have NBA players.

I'm going to this game tonight, just saw the Canada team in the papers, holy hell, the only name I recognise is Birch and that's only because I play fantasy NBA and daily fantasy. Oh well, still looking forward to seeing Delly, Mills and Ingles take the court.

The pool will finish
Lithuania
Australia
Canada
Senegal

I thought I read that Olynyk was still a chance to make the WC team but didn't travel to Aus. Either way it likely hurts their prep

Senegal are long and very athletic, but they've gone down to every team they've played in warm ups by 40+ points. They're not going to be competition for us.
Canada has just got a lot easier missing Olynyk, and everyone else who withdrew. We'd be odds-on favorites to beat them, effectively guaranteeing us passage into second round.
Lithuania has lost close games to Serbia, but it bares mentioning these are warm up games and both teams would run deep into their benches. Who knows what Lithuania will be like if playing Serbia in a meaningful match. Serbia are also missing Teodosic, and teams do suffer when they are without their head point guard.
Australia should leave group H. Probably even top it. Just knock on wood that there aren't more injuries.
