5 shooters as good or better than Gaze, Heal: Longley
From Olgun's article on FoxSports:
“I haven’t identified a number, but ideally we’d have four or five of them out there at all times,” Longley said.
“We wanna spread the floor, space the floor. Basketball’s going that way. We’re no different. We wanna create space on the floor. Joey and Patty have been doing such a good job at breaking the defence down, that we’re gonna have to put shooters around them. I’d say three, to pick a number.”
Longley goes from 4 to 5, settling on 3 at the end. I'm not sure if he is referring to notable shooters or just anyone that can hit the 3 when left open. If it's the latter, I think the only way we can have just 3 is to play Bogut and Creek together. Baynes has now added a long jumpshot to his repertoire in the NBA, Landale shot 38% with Partizan, Bolden is a threat, and Kay is reliable. The only players that struggle from 3-point range are Bogut and Creek.
I wouldn't be surprised if we spend the whole game with at least 4 players that can hit the 3 on court at the same time.

With the game on the line and needing a 3, I'd be happy for any number of guys to get a good look and actually get a shot up

With the game on the line and needing a 3, we’d still look for Mills. He is clutch.

I'd say this is pretty indicative of the way basketball is played these days. I'd suggest that across most elite level programs, the shooting from deep wouldn't be limited to one or two 'specialists' like it would have been in the 80's and 90's, with the new requirement being that almost every player (except for possibly one or two) that can hit the 3 ball with some sort of regularity.

Yes, the assistants would have input. Gliddon talked about being told that he was a unanimous selection by the coaches.

Might explain why there was no room for Blanchfield, not taking a shot at him but if others are making their shots then his value is lessened by comparison.
Looking forward to seeing us jack some up

NBL.TV has now produced around a dozen games since the start of the new season.
Any thoughts on the commentary teams so far, and how they compare with the offerings of Ten and Sky New Zealand?
