Boomers vs Germany - Practice game 28 August.
Adel has athleticism and basketball skill but a low basketball IQ

What a load shit, Dellavedova and Baynes games and stats are far better than DA, they are full time nba players for a start, not 10 day contract guys. World basketball is about team work and offensive, defensive plays, not nba no defence ball.

Dave have you given up on Deng Adel, check his game time and stats, they are rubbish.

Thanks rjd, helpful post
Mills is going to be our number one option no doubt, just like he has been for the past decade. But you're right, we need Delly and Ingles doing more. It can't be a one man show every game.

We will dust off that trophy cabinet then ME. Sounds like these Boomers just need to actually try and that they have an answer for everything. I for one am looking forward to the ticker tape parades. It's a shame that we'll likely lose Lemanis to the NBA after the tournament win and no doubt he'll take Kay, Sobey, Landale, Goulding, Gliddon and Barlow with him. I do hope they'll be able to play and defend their gold in Tokyo. One good thing though that those muppets from Canada, USA, Germany whi've been going full bore all along and Serbia, Spain, France etc will likely look to want to come play in the NBL to learn how to do this bball thing, will be good for the league.

Some thoughts from the game:
- Starting 5 was Baynes, Kay, Ingles, Mills, Delly; this unit looked alright to start the game, with scores around 12 each halfway through the quarter.
- It's not that Germany looked so good, but the Boomers looked out of sync and very, very sloppy. Lots of loose turnovers. Germany picked off a lot of passes, easily.
- Mills was ice cold until late in the 3rd. Ended up with a couple 3s, a layup; I can't remember more made baskets than that. Plenty of misses. Coinciding with Germany stretching the lead. Looks like not as much was run for him. We will again be relying on Mills for much of our scoring. For the opposition, shut Mills down, shut the Boomers down.
- We ran a lot with Ingles at point, but he looked off this game, way off his USA performance. Several bad passes and turnovers. I've seen him run the Utah offense often. This game was the worst I've seen him play in that role. Ingles continues to struggle with his shooting, as in Rio. We need NBA Ingles.
- Delly's new 3 appears to need a lot more work. Hit one, but bricked several others. He also isn't running the team as well as in Rio. If we are to do anything like in Rio, we need Rio Delly back. It's understandable that we are trying Ingles more as a playmaker, but I wonder if the coaching staff has also lost a bit of faith in Delly.
- No boxscores available, but I'd be surprised if Mills, Ingles and Delly combined for better than 25% from the field. Baynes shot the 3 better than each of them.
- Barlow played some good minutes; even spread the floor for a full iso in one play
- Baynes seemed easily agitated as Germany led comfortably, shoving Schroder needlessly at one stage. I'm surprised there was no ejection. Boomers were already about 20 down at this stage. Schroder's subsequent expression was one of bewilderment. Later other Germany players were on edge expecting Baynes to act out again. Boomers continued to target Schroder after whistles, both Mills and Bogut giving him shoves.
- Goulding looked good, hit 2 corner 3s, a nice drive to fadaway 2, another 3 off a broken play, a floating runner. His 2 missed 3s were in then out. Along with Landale, could be our most in-form player.
- Bogut interior D is elite, but he is struggling to get out to shooters, so expect a lot of opposition pick-n-pops.
- Germany shot the 3-ball well, but not particularly well. Seemed to be at a clip that we should expect from every team. Apart from Goulding, our best 3-point shooter was Baynes. That should say something.
- It doesn't matter who we play, if their 3s are dropping and ours aren't, a loss is probably coming. That's also the nature of an even World Cup. Out of the teams ranked 2-16, anyone can beat anyone.

OK ME, we should just expect the final quarter v USA as what we'll produce when we decide to have a go ?
So blow the dust off the trophy cabinet at BA HQ for the Naismith trophy mate ?

This - 'be able to turn it on and off like a switch'
We cant
We've proved we can't over 50 years of major championships
We can't win the games that count against quality opposition
That's why this more-of-the-same Lemanis led campaign will finish as the others have - a loss to a not superior opponent in a game that counts
Happy to be told (again) that this group is different
But I dont see it
I hope I'm wrong though

The bench players of The 3 peat Chicago would be the boomers core and dominate international basketball.Ah yes, those NBA heavyweights Will Perdue, Jud Buechler, Jason Caffey, Dickey Simpkins, Bill Wennington, Dennis Hopson, Rory Sparrow, Matt Steigenga, etc.

Any time you run with our third tier guys like Barlow and Creek you are not going to do well against top tier opposition. Back to reality, depth will kill us.

Very poor connection for me, but still running

That stream seems to have gone now. Stream dropped, now it's a 404.

Seems to need a tablet/phone, not PC

Creek is playing well. Great defence.

Seem to be a lot of fake youtube streams

Anyone try the off-youtube link?

Unfortunately that stream is too dodgy to use!

Thanks for the link, @FM.

I used VPN few times to access geo-blocked streams, was real easy

Scrimmages usually aren't televised or open to the public they're not proper games sometimes teams might play more than the max allowed number of players or they might play six quarters etc
