Premier League player movements(civil discussion! )

So basically Forestville fixing up the mess Dickel and Croxton left?

Anonymous

#212

So I can be clear on how a great club manages its finances is the following correct?

So Forestville having one of the highest junior subscriptions, both in cost per player and number of players, only contributes a pittance to the PL teams as the highest cost, player payments, is covered by the hard work of the coaches in getting sponsorship. What I don’t understand is how are they wasting all the payments from parents as it can’t be on junior development of boys. Something is not clear to me. Is it legal costs? Is it excessive coach costs which is used to supplement player costs. Are they still paying of the cost of brown paper bags and envelopes used in the past in the bar?

Any insight in how Forestville works would be appreciated!

#184 It shows you how much you know about how financing a team actually works, in this case Forestville. It’s pretty common knowledge that the coach sources sponsorship to then spend on players and the club pay for the coach fee and other costs associated to manage a team. Probably other clubs would have the same model (maybe not Norwood who just paid for two American coaches).

Forestville look to have finally invested in their junior programs and hired a full time on court Junior Development Manager while having another look after the admin. Long process to turn their boys teams around, no action for way too long.

Any news or views what you s happening in the women’s side. It looks like Forestville, Sturt and maybe South if news of Olivia Is correct

Anonymous
Years ago

Compare that to Forestville who spend all their money on the men’s team and legal costs at the expense of developing their junior boys programme which is very ordinary for a club of their size

Dickel is a lot better than Petty but then again my mum is better than Petty.

Anonymous
Years ago

Dickel can't coach pure and simple ..

Won't make finals and will be moved on after this season.

Anonymous
Years ago

Olivia Thompson has been cleared from Forestville to South... maybe Tricky Dicky will have a chance of finals this year?

Anonymous

I think the Mudronja deal was all but stitched up last year. Well done to last years coach for leaving the program in a very strong position from a culture and depth of personnel standpoint. He has also helped bring through another great crop of Sturt juniors last year too. Yes Sturt will be very strong this season.

Years ago

Thought Thomas was off to Woodville whats the USA story? They are in big need of a guard to complement the new front court signings.

Anonymous
Years ago

Are you kidding that this should be pointed at McLean?

The problem at West is the junior program being run there. Watching teams play and how they are coached is like jumping into a time machine and heading back to the 80s, it's abysmal.

Thomas left to pursue work opportunities. Kubank NBL1. Truslove retired. Rennie smart decision. The others we will see how they go at Norwood. Jordy will have another towel waver.

This turnover in PL is just run of the mill.

Way out west. Must be something in the water for such loyalty to not be returning. West are traditionally very United. Changing of the guard more likely with veterans moving on.

What is the update from up in the hills? What are Mavs going to be like in 2020? Their Res team is not great so they must have players to come in?

Anonymous
Years ago

It may be Andrew have you heard how good he thinks he is? Wouldn’t be surprised if it was him

Anonymous
Years ago

The bashing of Norwood is great, couldn't happen to a better bunch of towel wavers. Love the downhill slide.

Years ago
I am the best player in the league.

Unless that is Andrew, I thought the rules of the thread were:

So for this thread I propose rules
A) No mention of the Webbers and any other discontent at Norwood
B) No bashing of Eastern and junior development etc
C) No Vozzo, Jordy Wilson, Rigby Alphabet bashing
D) No Petty and South bashing
E) Southerns finances

A clear violation of rule A), unless Vozzo and Jordy Wilson have highjacked his computer, while on their way to develop some juniors at Eastern after stealing the Petty Cash from Southern Tigers.

And none of them will start for South

west announce an import signing overnight.

Nate sheppard 6'6 Guard out of Malone University (div 2 NCAA)

Athetic shooter, going by the highlight tape but that says nothing

I noticed the results for two favourites in PL tonight between South and Eagles. Eagles with 3 starters just get over South with maybe one starter. I still think Eagles favourites when their 3 restricted players are in line up

Because it's not true at all

Get the popcorn ready and enjoy the Flames/Pres show this season.

I suspect neither party has the ability to recognise they have no idea what they have gotten into. Washington and Milat no idea what they are getting involved with and the Pres at Norwood no idea either.

Hopefully all parties involved use this year as a growing and learning experience. Pity about the innocent bystanders that will be impacted.

That's what I mean, doesn't look good for clubs to have players that aren't so clean living playing for them so they'll keep quiet about them until it all eventually comes to a head and it always does and then the club let's loose

The whole Norwood shemozzle is cringe worthy.

Did some research on the Norwood coaches' numbers at college:

https://basketball.realgm.com/player/Mike-Malat/Summary/41963
https://msumavericks.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/derrick-washington/3021

Someone should have told Norwood that there are 10s of 1000s "NBA Skills Trainers" in the US. Anyone that wants to get into coaching that has been near an NBA player calls themselves an NBA Skills Trainer LOL

A Web will actually be a good coach one day I got no idea why they don't just give it to him officially. Both men's and women's teams infact.

Let's hope they coach better than they ball. I think the players that are not lining their pockets, or a Webber, will see right through this whole caper and move on pretty quickly.

You make out that it is always one way!

Anonymous
Years ago

You never hear the rumours about the players until they cut ties with them. Clubs are good at protecting their players when they're getting what they want out of them even if they aren't behaving as well as people think they are. All that matters is winning, right?

Anonymous

I thought Barry Mansfield was Norths JDO,

Anonymous
Years ago

If rumours about Mays were certainly more than smoking weed

I doubt North paid more for Starling to play PL

Anonymous
Years ago

Starling threw himself under the bus.

Anonymous
Years ago

Think there were a few more issues than that

Anonymous
Years ago

I think one must ask why Starling has moved to so many clubs; this being his fourth. And of those clubs where did he stay longest? North! Hardly seems to be as bad a situation as people with an agenda suggest especially given Starling’s history and propensity to move.

As for Mays I would argue that any Club who got a dud import didn’t do enough homework. Whether North did or didn’t do enough their decision to tear up the contract shows they are not about winning at all costs if they had concerns.

Anonymous
Years ago

North didn't do their research. Old mates at Southern contacted them as soon as they heard of his singing. North aren't that thorough.

Good old Andy will do anything for a win.

Anonymous
Years ago

Sounds like he had to do a Mays this season.

Anonymous
Years ago

North definitely made it for him. He shopped himself around to every club, whoever would take him.

Anonymous
Years ago

Starling said he and Hawkes had bumped heads at the Woolacott but seemed to respect him. You are taking that out of context to suit your lame agenda. They clearly got along as they worked well together for 3 years.
It would seem Starling fell out of flavour with the club, not Hawkes personally.

Years ago

Norwood is a ticking time bomb with their new president of only 6 Months making all the rules to suit himself but no one
Else. Be prepared to see more changes....

Anonymous
Years ago

I’m not sure anyone will put up their hand to coach Norwood with their reputation unless their surname is Webber.

Years ago

Petty was not at southern in 2016 I don’t believe. I think the connection to Starling is South were the only ones willing to take him.

Anonymous
Years ago

So what is this rift you are talking about? I think you are clutching at straws!

Anonymous
Years ago

Honestly South could go to Marion shopping centre and randomly pick anyone who is more qualified than their current mens coach. Starling, Morris and company will soon work this out and take over.

Anonymous
Years ago

So south can win a reserves game next Tuesday!

Anonymous

120% Confirmed. Alex Starling to South!

Anonymous

North need another scoring 1-3 player

Anonymous

No problem with South. Only probably one of our starters played and Alex will probably help with coaching

Anonymous

I thought he was playing football at Gawler Central not Gawler South. So it is South

385, read down a bit further in the By-Laws - anyone requiring a foreign players license is restricted. Poorly worded By-Laws but the latter takes precedence.

Anonymous
Years ago

Let the lawyers line up to order there new BMW!!!

Anonymous
Years ago

As previously posted, the by-law clearly states that this does not apply to foreign players.
Pretty sure you are both wrong and if the Cheatgles get this changed to suit them, then BSA may as well just admit they are ran by the Cheatgles.
Surely that club has ran out of opportunities to exploit or have rulings changed to suit them.

Anonymous
Years ago

I think you are wrong.

Anonymous
Years ago

It wouldn't apply to Starling like it could to Rios as Rios has played over 100 games for the same club, Starling is off to the next club within a year or two after he has worn out his welcome.

Anonymous

#316. He had stolen Forestville junior development pathway book
