NBL1 Qld
After the article, I scrolled down and was gob-smacked to see an off-season, state-league website not hibernating. If you're from Qld, you'll know that the QBL site has even learned how to hybernate during the season.
The news is great! Wonder what the go is with the Hungry Jack/McDonald sponsorships? And anyone notice that Bullets now play out of the Nissan Arena in an MG sponsored comp?

Awesome news!

NBLQ?

Well and good to talk about NBL1 in QLD and NSW but have you any idea of the cost involved.
Unless you have major sponsors some of the Associations are not financial enough to support it.

Hope this happens..

You can call the Waratah League anything you like but it’s not joining qbl, or any other league as there is no money in it. Players play for free, not money.

All sounds great but just because you call these leagues that already exisit nbl1 doesn’t suddenly mean the players in them miraculous get better or the clubs suddenly have more money (they will have less). It will be pointless to have a ‘national comp’. It will be dominated every year but the current nbl1 (old Seabl) league. The reason being that is where the clubs with the money are to pay the players worthy of this second tier comp. the better players from around aus will end up there and most of the better players already emanate from Victoria so they will stay in their home state.

The Qbl is a great product but there's no marketing, inconsistent expertise and no money. some of the associations have really moved forward on polishing the product they deliver but many others simply don't have the ability to do this. compare townsville, which (I believe) streams every game with Toowoomba (or is it Ipswich?), which if rumours are true, struggles to provide hot water in the visiting team locker room. if this takeover goes ahead it will allow the league to better showcase what is a really exciting, competitive league and a great night out. and this is a collaborative move, and clubs are provided with assistance to present and market their teams, it could be very successful.

Absolutely, 100% for it. Make it so, Please!
