Barlow lives in Sandringham where he coaches his sons basketball team, the same area he grew up in and played junior basketball. He's been back in Melbourne for like 5 or 6 years now

That would make an interstate move extremely unlikely, unless he was getting offered significantly more cash than United pays him

Why would United be paying him big dollars if SEM is their only real competition?

Agreed. That is a terrible rationale. The real reason is that 'Dead Man' David 'The Corpse' Barlow is buried at a cemetery in Melbourne so cannot travel away for more than a couple of days at a time!

Put all the eleven names of Perth, Sydney and Melbourne on a list and put dollar value on them at the start of this season and Melbourne are the most expensive roster ever.
Bruce is playing like a quality player but had no takers, same Moller, Tate was a unknown cheap import, Taylor the same. There roster probably comes in third or fourth when marquee etc deductions come in.
Look at United roster pre season start, Prather, Trimble, Long Goulding on big, big money. McCarron left Europe for Melbourne on big money. Barlow would’ve got a good pay rise, Illi left NZ as did Pledger, none left for small change.
Perth would be similar to Sydney, though White, Cotton, huge money, Kay big dollars. Norton also would have earned more to leave a start spot at Illawarra. Phoenix chased Steindl for good dollars and Perth beat them to his signing. Wagstaff and Martin like Lisch and Newley would’ve taken less money but all would be on reasonable money.

Around 3mil.

I estimated up to 3.15mil for Kings, up to 2.91 mil for United, and up to 2.55 mil for Perth

This was before Cooks. Using publicly available info e.g. Cotton 600, Bogut 500, bottom 5 up to $514,800 etc etc

Total guesswork but so is everyone else around here
