Premier league update version 14.2
Is Legan seeking permanent residency leading ultimately to citizenship like Starling?

Someone has suggested to me that Legan was offered a non-NBL1 gig with Norwood to get help pushing the visa through. Is that incorrect?

Seems poor planning by Norwood or it is a convenient excuse to upgrade their import spot.
The ASADA certificate is a new requirement

Legan did not overstay his visa. He in fact spent most of his offseason taking Australian teenagers over to America and coaching them against high school clinics. Maybe we should ask the Webber’s why he’s not back? Because the grapevine is saying that the president knocked his return back because his visa was taking to long to be organised

Perhaps with NBL1, gambling and the need for all players to get an ASADA certificate for registration we can see some drug testing take place because where there is smoke there generally is fire.
Who are the four clubs. I am sure others as well.

He has gone back go the state's many times in the years he has played in Australia.
I hear there has been some looking into a few players in the league regarding illegal activities and drug use all which are against their contracts and visa rules. One being at Norwood and I'm sure people can figure out where the others are. There's about to be a shake up at the top 4 clubs.

I reckon Hawkes would agree that winning a final is more important than couch potato, pre-season predictions.

On Norwood they are looking very strong. Another year of experience for the Webber’s and they are cherry ripe to explode onto the NBL 1 scene.

Geez Norwood fans gets salty easily

North - legit loaded group...

North crew locked loaded and firm favourites. That's very impressive group... who else got that much talent..

lol schild

MvVeigh, Drmic, Dowdell, Harding, Marshall, Schild, Aistrope and co will go alright I reckon.

Pretty sure contender.

So much BS. Only a handful of people would know a little bit of information and certainly not for each club
All I see is Norths roster starting to look strong and will be nice to see when done to see if they are mid pack or a contender

$35000 each, ha ha ha ha. As if.

"Throwing money at Drmic and McVeigh"
I know that North got them for the same amount Norwood paid for Turnege alone.

^ ummm how is 125 am idiot as they never said clear favourites but a tongue in cheek wooden spooners comment

North still to announce the second import signing.

#117. They are used to playing with Randle so I don’t think they have too much to worry about playing without a PG who can actually distribute the ball

^ so correct. I’m now worried North might be wooden spooners!!!

^ unfortunately genius there's a team that is way better called the cheatgles!
And Drmic and McVeigh are basically the same player. Btw,who's going to get them the ball? Better imo to have gotten a pg, Riewer would have been perfect.

Rockets clearly outright favourites over big spending south... Maybe starling has bolted too early.. chasing the title. Should have stayed at home..
North have raised the bar. Great get.

Dante Thompson and Dane Miller. Might now just squeeze North out of finals contention

Squad starting to take shape. Hopefully North can now compete with all the other stacked squads and make finals

North via FB have confirmed Drmic is playing for the club this year.

My mistake, was looking at this and thought was senior year.

But his European experience was basically playing at a university, not as a pro.
In every single way he is complete opposite of Riewer

Is this any major change or news?

North nurturing??? They appear to look after their top two divisions but as for the rest? Other clubs not much better either

Parents need to also appreciate that for 99.99% of all kids schooling must be a priority. Some coaches push their kids too far with commitments burning them out and leaving them with an uphill battle with schooling

Having said that a club and people in those clubs aiming to do it and actually have the capabilities and abilities to help make it a reality are 2 very different things. Parents just need to recognise this when considering their options.

I think you will find every club is trying to develop players at junior levels to higher levels and offer them higher level pathways and opportunities for each athlete to consider in their goalsetting. I believe Sturt are very good at this too.

#439, I think you exaggerate but wasn't that Sturts approach in the past?

#421 but North need to be careful they don't grind these kids into the ground with all the commitments they have as well as schooling commitments.

Patty Thomas to Warriors. Makes them stacked.

435 yea I agree. Norwood seem to have talent come in and just go backwards year on year at an alarming rate.
North have found the perfect balance of recruitment and player development it seems. They have some talent coming through now that I've heard the likes of Kentucky, Cincinnati, Utah, UCLA are starting to recruit. Big name college coaches will soon be sneaking back into town to recruit kids in SA but this time it will be at the Rockets.

Sturt,Eastern and Forestville (probably all set with no changes from 2019 Championship team) all very quiet. Any news from these clubs??? Be fantastic if someone in the know put together:

421 yes North is a power house in boys basketball thanks to a nurturing environment for the players. compared to other clubs north have a much better philosophy when it comes to looking after their players. if you look at norwood for example there is talent but no nuture and without the nurture it all starts to fall a part.

It makes sense.
North is now an absolute power in boys basketball in South Australia and the divide between them and the others is growing.
With new stadium, NBL1 and sponsors rolling in it is definitely time to expand their Premier League pathway as players seek to launch from their development pathway into the elite collegiate and pro ranks.

Probably the same people who start everything on here who have no idea what is happening but think they do!!

they are NOT getting miller... who started that???

Dowdell confirmed for North. Miller announced tomorrow and Drim on Friday?

What about Drmic and Miller

McVeigh announced on North’s Facebook page

Update on norwood everyone still hates the Webber’s. Rumour has it Andrew has signed a deal that involves 38 minutes per game no matter how bad his fg%

From my understanding Starling was being held accountable for commitments given to the club.
For over two years North were supporting Starling's efforts to become a permanent resident of Australia. Starling then chose to leave North coincidentally just around his permanent residency was granted.
This was Starling's decision.
