Adelaide v Perth Jan 1
Cliff notes: 2020 got ruined on the first day of the year.

I think Perth are stuck with Hunt and Adelaide with Moore.
Only United made a change and that was due to Prather injury.

He didnt push him at all.

Kay only has himself to blame. Teys flop wasn't great but Kay had two hands on him with a push and Teys was smart enough to realise this. Bad defence from Kay as he has no need to defend Teys like that.

Stuff the ref talk, it won’t change.
Interesting point about Moore, he has been woeful at best. If randle continues to pass the ball and buy into a team basketball concept, and the 36ers could upgrade on Moore to an import that’s a true threat, not just another floater, which yes would cost money, they’d be a real chance at the playoffs. Having said all that, as is, cairns will get 4th I think and may push whoever gets 1st.

Playing the blame game on the refs is just deflecting from how your team played. The refs will make poor calls and mistakes, it happens, however they are no different to the mistakes players make during the game, and i'd hazard a guess if you went through the game, the players would actually make more mistakes. I would rather my team control what they can control, their own actions and decision making on court.
The fact remains the Perth team shot terribly from the 3pt line for the first 3 quarters and keep going to it, we got back in the game, by ball movement and taking it inside, it was pretty dumb basketball for 3 quarter, and a bit more smarter play we may have won that game.
Yep we had a bigs on the bench at the end, and yes Kays last foul was questionable, but don't give away cheapies earlier on and that would not be a factor. As for Hunt well he spends most of the game on the bench anyway due to the fact he has not adjusted to how the game is called in Australia, he won't be the last overseas player to struggle with how it's called, but it is on him to adjust his playing style, something he seems incapable of doing.

Great win deserved by playing tough energetic defence and only gave Perth a chance with some silly decision making in offence once had good lead.
Now replace Moore and see what this team can do.

"The Teys flop wasn't ideal but Perth dug a big hole being 15 or so down."
Exactly. It sucks that in what was ultimately a close game, piss-poor reffing decided the result, but we never should have been in that scenario.

“ How is complaining about an obvious Teys flop seeking favouritism?”
Who drew that specific connection? Sounds like you’re making up arguments I never made.
“Remember the time Knight flopped on Randle”
No
“and it cost Adelaide the game?”
No, flopping cost Perth the game, no reffing cost Perth the game, so what’s your point?
As a general perspective I’m sure the NBL can do more to punish clear flops post match - perhaps two strikes = suspension because clearly players will risk a flop tech to get a game winning foul call their way. Only way to deter is if the ability to play future games is on the line.

Haha Koberulz got zero credibility, just talks shit.
who was the guy who flopped on Froling?
The perfectly timed spin completed outed the ridiculous flop.

The three Perth fans in onesies gave a nice lolfactor, appreciate a team with enough support to be visible in other cities.
Perth fans complaining about refs is hilarious, they live life expecting favouritism everywhere they go.
DJ had a bad start to the game in respect of finishing baskets but finished off the game nicely.
Randles hero ball is anger inducing.
Griffin had a super effective match, kudos

That was a great spirited win. It's a simple game and it's amazing what can happen when you pass the ball around get defences off foot and make everyone on the floor a threat. Glad to see Joey rip Randle out in the 4th when he started going back to hero ball. Randle himself becomes much harder to guard if he's a threat to pass it.

The definition of irony, Perth fans complaining about refs and flopping.
A side that gets more home town call than all other sides and have flopping champions flopstaff and Cotton.

That Teys flop is up there with the Patty Mills flop for the worst call in NBL history.
This is probably the single most ridiculous thing you've ever said.

That Teys flop is up there with the Patty Mills flop for the worst call in NBL history.

Why did i read this thread? Sucker for punishment i guess... i have been avoiding this forum lately. Its becoming pointless.
Im probably not coming back. Too many of the decent posters and the reasons to be here are gone. Ill miss the convos with some of you though.
May check in from time to time in the hope that something has been done to fix this forum up to what it used to be.
Look after yourselves everyone. ;)

Thanks Adelaide! Wish I’d watched the game.

I thought that Gaze, Russel, Rosen were great. More of those three together thanks.
Good call I thought they were much improved. As much as Derwayne gives me the sh#ts credit where credit is due.

Either team could have won this one, thank goodness Joey benched Randle in the fourth to let Teys get that final foul on Kay

I don't know about saddest, but top 3 for sure.
Kay was a bit unlucky, but Hunt & Majok have only themselves to blame for racking up a combined 10 fouls in 32 minutes. We can't afford that at the best of times, let alone in a game where Kay is in foul trouble too.

This thread is almost as bad as the complaining on FB about the refereeing.
Players need to adjust, they’re professionals after all.

"Perth fans whinging about home cooking, FMD, get a grip"
"So you're OK with home cooking if it happens against Perth..."
I hate the double standard about home cooking on here with certain teams like Perth. Some people seem to turn a blind eye to it and tell Cats fans to stop complaining when Perth get screwed playing away, but then when Perth have calls go their way at home those same people complain about Perth getting home cooking.
Lets face home cooking is a fairly common thing, and if the refs are trash (which they often are in this league) they can be called out and complained about.

"says the guy who said the refs stink if Adelaide wins"
Tell your parents they need to have a word with your English teacher, as clearly your R&C is extremely poor.

I thought that Gaze, Russel, Rosen were great. More of those three together thanks.

It was a great run, and a great fightback by Perth, but like I said, just a bit to far with Kay in trouble and then fouling out, only playing a couple of minutes in the last.
Fact is that we still could have won, had we put up more of a performance in the 2nd & 3rd quarters. can't really blame the refs for that.

Perth fans whinging about home cooking, FMD, get a grip.
Fantastic game of basketball and I don’t like either side. Best side won and Joey was right to sit down Randle for hero ball.

Well played Sixers.
Cats closing the gap in this matchup but still work to do. Next one will be interesting.

These refs are pathetic it's so frustrating to watch any close game and it just coming down to boring foul shots/fouls stopping play

Was Moore’s steal a foul?

No it doesn’t Dazz.

Unfortunate to lose Majok like that.
...and there goes Hunt.
I really hope Perth can still do it from here, otherwise that home-cooking starts to stink.

His* team mates

Hunt and Majok fouled out, Kay on 4. Yikes this could be ugly if Kay fouls out too, especially if there is over time.

Dear god, Randle has some issues with reading the game. Back to back hero ball plays, and look at josh team
Mates body language.

Controversial call by the ref, here's a replay of something from 5 minutes ago brought to you by the hub

Adelaides issues are very deep. This loss will break them
