Perth Lynx Woes
Who is the 22 year old?

The 22 year old is a disciple of the assistant Petrik so make him the coach and the disciple the assistant.

coaching wise I believe Deanna smith would be a good option. she has respect on the eastern seaboard with her playing career and is already a championship winning coach. she would need a strong assistant coach to help.
in my opinion andy stewart is the best coach but the club just needs change for many reasons.

The game that will determine Andy Stewart's career will be on January's 22 against Canberra.

Too late now, yeah.
I think the home loss to Canberra 2 weeks ago was the final nail in the coffin for our playoff hopes this season.
The WNBL season starts & ends in a flash. Meanwhile all the northern hemisphere women's leagues are running at the same time and run for a lot longer, so there aren't many players becoming available in time to be chopping & changing. Not star players who are going to make an immediate positive impact, anyway.

That's probably because the WNBL season is almost over, particularly for the Lynx. They may send an import home (to save money) but certainly won't replace one. There's no point.

you think Perth have woes... how bout the Fire!
Doesnt help when your coach cant recruit and then when all the duds are signed on inflated contracts she pulls the pin!

they are the only professional team in the wnbl, under the wildcats regime. They havent gotten the goods. They had to get the championship in their first year but blew it in the GF. They have since failed miserably. Andy surely cant be renewed for next season - he has to go

Ebzery is even better than last season's version. She has been superb.
Mansfield is way better than last season's injured version.
Payne started well but has dropped off, and doesn't defend bigs or rebound as well as Steindl, so advantage Steindl on that one.
Allen this season is heaps better than she was last season. Not even close.
But yes, the import combo hasn't worked at all for whatever reason. McGee-Stafford's production not been a big surprise to me based on her WNBA play, but I was certainly expecting more from Atkins, at both ends of the court. How much of that is her, and how much is our failure to utilise her, I'm not really sure.
What has stood out to me most this season - other than the choking late in game - is how much worse our D is than previous seasons. We used to really get after teams and make life tough for them, and our rotations were sharp. That proactive defence is just a nice memory now.
Not sure why we went after a big 5. It doesn't really suit Perth's style. And with Allen's improvement it barely suits our needs either. I notice Andy tried plenty of small ball tonight - with Allen & IMS both benched - and tried some twin towers as well. The latter didn't really work. The former had an impact for a while but someone like Russell is way too good to do it against for any length of time.

McGee-Stafford and Atkins - both were WNBA top-10 draft picks. I know the WNBL is strong but something's not right.
