Why is then that they don’t attract on average better players

How can you possible know that?

Player payments in Qld on average are higher than NBL 1 South.

Meanwhile in Victoria...
Dominating at every level year after year.

Where’s the victorians havin a sook? None about here because they work together at growing the game and give a toss.
Twice the numbers of players but also but 3 times as many associations.
You know it’s bad elsewhere when you have sale make the semis in a national competition.

how are sa and qld going to bridge the gap?

why is there now suddenly going to be a gap for wa to bridge?

do you think those that play in the wa league are now going to pack up and come and play in sa and qld because their league doesn't have nbl1 in its title this year?

do the sa and qld clubs now suddenly have more money to spend on players?

What conference will MtGambier play in? South or Central?

agreed. im an advocate that to strength basketball in this country we need a strong 2nd tier league played in the off season to the nbl. ie these non stars of the nbl need a good strong league to compete in to improve their games as to do the upcoming stars. we dont have the population or the talent depth to be spread out over 50 teams or something like that. there should be one strong second tier league, teams with budgets of some description talented players would hopefully be funnelled here a bit like the old seabl but improved obviously which leaves us with nbl1 south. we need the best 2nd tier players playing in the one comp regularly against each other. say 15 teams?

Yeah, I'm a little confused by the pro-NBL1 argument being that non-NBL1 clubs/leagues are getting left behind, but also that there's no reason not to join because it's just a rebranding of the league. They can't both be true.

what is being made up?

apart from the 200k on a mens team... gee you would want to hope you win spending that sort of coin!

does anyone know if the lucky two clubs from each state in both mens a women that get to go play in the final championship tournament know if the clubs have to fund this expense or if the nbl is?

seems tough on nbl1 south clubs who would have already budgeted and contracted players before this was announced.

Only about 1/10 of qbl games were streamed and most poor quality on Facebook.

F/ville and Mt Gambier would have been very competitive

could have done that last year. many of the premier league games were streamed. i suspect many of the qbl games were also streamed

agree i dont get why everyone is jumping up and down like this is the. it simply change of league name and back to the old days of 2 teams play off against other states. nbl1 south will win that almost every year like seabl did in the past.
i doubt any nbl1 clubs would spend 200k on a team so cant see the nznbl salary cap being relevant

Not difficult to change, make the north logo more maroon brown to seperate it from central colour and make sure the 1s on all conference logos are orange, easy fix.

Change the M to a small m on the signs and watch people lose their minds

LK coming good again, nznbl shooting them selves in the foot by having a 200g salary cap so imports will earn less makes the nbl 1 better for the guys on the bigger money.

The north logo is also too close in colour to central red, it should be more maroon dark like qld sth/nth.

On the logos, why are not all the 1s in the middle orange colour? They should have some throw back to the original orange nbl1 logo like the south conference logo does.

The last 2 appointments of Head Coach have not worked out so it would be fair to say the selection process was poor.Only 3 SOS owners remain and although it is their money I don't think they have the expertise and knowledge to choose the best candidate.That being said can we at least get a group of the right people with no emotional or agendas to select our next coach.Lindsay Gaze or Adrian Hurley would be a good start to have both would be brilliant get Wayne Jackson as well passionate SA man with huge knowledge.I would certainly support the decision these guys made who else should be on the selection panel or who do you trust to make the best call?
