Australian Boomers team v NZ & Hong Kong announced
It’s the same all across the world in every region. Good team, mediocre teams, bad teams.
Unless you want to divide it in half or 3 divisions like junior level in Europe.
They have asia a and b at u16 level.

I've got no objection to any country in the region having a crack. I just think top vs bottom is a waste of time & money, and getting slaughtered doesn't benefit the development of Hong Kong or whatever other bunch of jabronis either. You can learn and improve from losses, but not from total annihilations. Surely there's got to be a better system than this.

Tournament is fine the way it is.
It’s nice to see the improvement of some nations, saudis, Guam etc and also there new prospects coming through.
Most of the other groups have much less disparity betweennteams.

This kid will be a 6’8 pg.
Needs to work on his defense alot though. His body should develop in a couple of years.

Need to bring our best 12 from nbl next window.
Creek, cooks, Magnay, Goulding, cotton potentially....

The only thing that would make these farce matches worse would be if a superstar got injured in one

Luuuc, are u ok?

115-52
Boxscore
Sensational win by the Boomers. Utterly dominant. And to think that this wasn't even our best possible lineup because CG43 was unavailable.
Gold medal in Tokyo for sure. Only thing that could stop us now is the games being cancelled due to coronavirus and even then we'd probably still be given our medals because it's obvious we're gonna win them.

What a pathetic showing so far, absolute disgrace with the lack of energy in this game.

Reads like there is a lot of experts that have wrote on this thread NOT

Hong Kong is the last game before November, it’ll be a different Aussie team again by then.
Nz will be stronger also though, Much stronger with Delaney, Abercrombie, Webster’s etc

Apart from Dech, Gidddey, Froling, the rest of this team suck. They are Simply not good enough for international basketball

Will beat Hong Kong.
The November window will be much stronger team with Kay, Creek, Goulding, Magnay etc all likely available.

So a Kiwi B team beats an Aussie D team by ONLY 10 points in a fairly meaningless game, given that both teams are almost certain to go through?
Why bother getting worked up about it? SMH

BREAKING: Team of players who have never played before, working with completely new coach and new system, signed from a limited field specifically excluding a lot of talent, and skewed towards the development of youth, does not perform to the expectations of those who somehow thought it was an A side.
Nothing. (Well, other than some LOLs, some ribbing from the Kiwis, and some people blowing things out of proportion)Saw it coming, huh?

Chillwohie - first up game. Good to get so m e court time into young guys. Kiwis full.of vets - got lucky.

Blanchfield was a disgrace.

The name’s Cool Howie, don’t wear it out.

Where are the fools saying Giddey was ready now? Run at me haterz, I was proven correct.

Weaver will not be the new coach, not a chance. He sucks....

Drmic and kyei are better defenders than those chosen.
Dech should be starting. So too Pineau.

Weaver not that great imo.

Weaver got this lineup all wrong, lazy defenders. Pineau offers more than Hodgson.

Pity Barlow is in the NBL playoffs and therefore unavailable for this game, or we could have played him at PG just for old time's sake :p

Nothing. (Well, other than some LOLs, some ribbing from the Kiwis, and some people blowing things out of proportion)
We've got 2 games to play against each of NZ, Hong Kong, and Guam, and we just have to finish top 2 in our group. Even Ph!l Smy#h couldn't find a way to stuff that up.

No Delaney.

And this compared to the likely Tall Blacks squad:
Loe/Smith-Milner
Delany/Vukona
Rusbatch/Ngatai/Harris
Te Rangi/Prewster
Ili/Britt/Kenny

Not much they can do with what's left, I prob would've tried going with less youth though.
Sobey, Cadee, Gliddon, Magnay, Pineau, Drimic, DJ, Blanchfield, Stephens (need a sharpshooter with no Goulding), Naar, Dech, Adnam
PG: Cadee/Naar/Adnam
SG: Sobey/Drimic/Dech
SF: Blanchfield/Gliddon/Stephens
PF/C: DJ/Magnay/Pineau

Serbia hosted 2 women’s Olympic qualifying groups because FIBA moved the one scheduled for China there due to the Coronavirus

Tall Blacks squad is pretty weak; well actually the PC answer might be "young". Resembled more like a put together team you'd send to some tournament in China rather than a fully fledged national team;

Josh Giddey? Get out of here man, it’s too early.

Hong kong team has one player over 6 8

what does tall blacks team look like

when

Comparing to AFL with the extensive rookie program and draft... How do people get into the NBL?
Do you have to be in the training program and go there for peanuts for a few years as a development player then (hopefully) step up when it is your time?
Do you play bigv/seabl while working to again, hopefully step up when it is your time?
Are there actually scouts at State champ and SEABL level that look for people who they think could be ready for NBL?
It seems there are a lot of people that should get a chance that don't... And others that do that shouldn't.
I'm 23 now and starting to lose hope!
