Teys probably had best season. Definitely keep for his experience.he is calm player sets great example. In transitional year coming need experience calmness leadership positive attitude team first.

I'd say either they'll do a big thing on Saturday night to thank him for everything and wish him luck with his future, or they'll drop the news Monday after their commitments to each other are done and they can break things off immediately.

I bet Friday arvo like politicians that's when they put out their bad news because they know everyone is focused on the weekend.

Team chemistry and fit is huge.

I think Centrals did pick up a win from memory, but worse than that is that he left them in a worse place than when he started. Pretty amazing with that team only winning a couple I think the year before.
Showed at Norwood though that he could succeed with a finals berth and trying to phase Webbers out which proved his undoing.
But definitely a strong personality that can rub people the wrong way.

Let's go for an upgrade for a coach. 1 name. Brett Brown. If not Brett then KB forsure.

Go for the best coach possible regardless of where they're from.

It all starts at coach level and I can see a couple of scenarios.

1. Joey stays and it's "business as usual"
2. Joey gets sacked and paid out
3. Joey walks without a payout (unlikely)
4. A "coach swap" occurs with Joey going to another club with a mutual agreement

If Joey is not the wright guy, then who will be the replacement?
1. Untested NBL level coach (hello Marty, let's go party) Would a KB/Jantke combo set the NBL alight?
2. Poached coach from another club
3. Aussie coach overseas wanting to come home
4. American coach wanting to go his own way
5. Former NBL coach out of retirement (will you drive us to a flag Scotty?)

Would've been very interesting being able to play through hypothetical 19/20 seasons, with Randle and with Taylor, and see which team fared best. Better scoring output from Randle, but likely better team structure/chemistry with Taylor?

Randle was the wrong move, but replacing Taylor wasn’t. I’d rather Kyle Adnam start at pg than Taylor.

Everything fell apart when they released Taylor to sell more tickets, that was a guy Joey brought in & loved right away. The way Randle plays doesn’t win games, he yells/argues at players and coaches on court during games so I can only imagine the practice. He just didn’t gel well with this team in particular, his playing style doesn’t work with every team and it showed with this team. They needed a guard who could defend, knock down shots and good willing passer. I believe with this 36ers group had they needed a player like Taylor to run the team or alongside Randle to offset the issues Randle has on the court. He’s flashy and can score, but nothing else really, only being a small scoring guard will not win you the important/meaningful games and it’s shown in his career

Teys does have an option for next season and after a couple of 20 point games this season I would be more than happy to have him back next season.

McVeigh has shown some promise and although I like Drmic's fight it wouldn't kill me if he left he's not a great shooter for a specialist shooter.

No doubt we'll all once again scare ourselves into the thought of life without DJ and rush to give him another big contract. You only have to look at how often he's left out of Boomers squads by various coaches over the years to get a true understanding of his value around the league.

The Wildcats wouldn't touch him with a barge pole you think Gleeson would be interested in a 6'11" guy who guards with his hands down by his sides? He saves all his energy for the offensive end and has an almost contemptuous attitude towards defence.

GK has sullied the Sixers name so badly over the Mitch Creek affair that we had to sign misfits and cast offs like Kyei, Dillon & White this season so I'm sure a few of these guys will be back to round out the roster.

Will be interesting to see if Randle's option is picked up now that Joey's going. Hopefully not but like GK our new GM JVG thought it a good idea to give Randle a 2 year deal Sydney so who knows with people like this running the team. The fact Kevin Brooks is the favourite to replace Joey says it all really.

Having DJ play you then need a rim protector and a PG/SG that can defend at a high standard.

do some analysis, learn some history. There was just over a decade where the talent just dried up from SA. Just look at Boomers teams these days. How many recent SA kids do you see? Look at AIS program or U17/U19 National teams over past decade. Look at guys going to D1 collegiate level of SA. There was major void.

The oldschoolers that mean well actually crush talent in SA and anyone that actually knows how to develop is seen as an outsider. There is a major, ongoing problem with SA basketball pathways and club system. Fortunately, it is well known amongst the top tier athletes and coaches, in the modern era these old school, clueless angry old men are irrelevant (despite their formal roles) and kids will just keep succeeding outside and in some cases in spite of traditional development pathways.

The talent pool from SA IS now growing, the kids coming through still have a little way to go in order to get to the NBL. But at least it is beginning to flow through again.

I think if they are the available names then KB is definately the best option by a mile.

905, outside of Sammy Mac there is no recent, young talent that is good enough from here. A few of these kids around think they are good enough, as do their parents, but they are not. Look at the level they played at in college or their numbers at Premier League or NBL1 or even just go and watch them play.

Yes. There is about to be a few more currently at college, in addition to Mudronja and Harris, good enough to play NBL but you will find they all would have played for Joey.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story though.

I really hope we have not lost Joey to have one of those guys as the replacement. Be careful what you wish for people because you just might get it one day ;)

Need a defensive guard in there and obviously a 3 shooter. I personally like the centres you lock in a cage during the week and feed them large carcasses of meat through a slot in the cage until game day.

I think Drmic can be a starting 2 in the league. A fresh coaching voice may help him even, same with Harry.

This means currently playing off in the Grand Final is

Lockie (going for back to back) v Alexkrad (Straight from League 2 into the GF)
Old rivals Statman v TR for 3rd place

Meanwhile myself and Beantown are headed down to League Two.

X v Flinders for 5th spot
Skip v Beantown to avoid the spoon.
