Would have included Majok Deng, Mirko Djeric, Fabijan Krslovic, Anthony Fisher, George Blagojevic, Alex Loughton plus some more of our local talent.

Hobart very disappointed, interview on the Facebook page they had added Harry Froling and Craig Moller, would’ve had a very nice squad.

There will be a lot good Australian players available, Melbourne tigers were loaded. I would not worry about imports if Adelaide gets a local come going, plenty locals sitting on there arse.

My crystal ball predicts that a shortened Big V season is the only senior ball going to be played in Vic this year. Big V can get on the court in June in some form and play until end of September with out too much financial strain or disruption to the priority of getting grass roots domestic ball back on court.

Above" Correction " is the only senior ball going to be played in Victoria

Hobart say that they will follow guidelines but hoping that there is a season of some sort.

OK so who wins NBL1 South it if only Aussie based players are in squads.
Men's & Women's
GO

18 teams in the south, if 6 pull out you still might get a short season going basically made up of Australian players.
NZ has also got their season on delay.

FYI: Frankston want to play this season - but they will not get the chance if the season is cancelled altogether.

Several teams have withdrawn, others set to do so also, both in South and North.
Tasmania has a 14 day isolation period for visitors.
I doubt we get any kind of season this year in NBL1.

Add Sandringham to the list

Edit:
Any NBL1 club’s committing to playing?

Any NBL clubs commuting to playing?

Spoke to someone from Frankston and they will not participate in NBL1 this season.
I believe at this stage they will participate in Big V (maybe YL??) if that ends up happening.

Going to be a boring winter.
Should have shut the country down a month ago and we would be at the tail end now. It’s going to affect a lot more people and cost a lot more now, scomo is useless.

If the season does get shortened and eventually gets going, there will be a few players available. Tigers in the box seat now if it starts.

Reading Ballarat's statement where they state:
"Basketball Ballarat, with guidance from many key stakeholders including Basketball Victoria, Community Clubs Victoria and other Victorian Basketball Associations, have come to this difficult decision in the best interests of the physical and mental well-being of all athletes, members, supporters, staff, volunteers and match officials during this unprecedented global health pandemic caused by COVID-19."
Is it just me or does it that combined with the number of other NBL1 stating they are not playing sound like they NBL1 clubs have all decided to withdraw together?

From Ballarat Basketball:
COVID-19 News Update | A Message from Basketball Ballarat
Thursday March 19th, 2020
Basketball Ballarat have made the decision that the Hotondo Homes Ballarat Miners and Selkirk Ballarat Rush Teams will not participate in the 2020 NBL1 South Season.
Basketball Ballarat, with guidance from many key stakeholders including Basketball Victoria, Community Clubs Victoria and other Victorian Basketball Associations, have come to this difficult decision in the best interests of the physical and mental well-being of all athletes, members, supporters, staff, volunteers and match officials during this unprecedented global health pandemic caused by COVID-19.
Over the upcoming weeks and months, we will be prioritising working extremely closely with our local member clubs, players, officials and families to ensure that we re-establish the sport of basketball within our community from the grass roots level up.
The NBL1 competition is at the pinnacle of our regional athlete pathway and this difficult decision has already been made by other member Associations to ensure we are all viable for all local club and member programs and competitions immediately when we are through the current emergency.
We assure you that we are already planning for how to provide the best possible grassroots program for the thousands of junior and senior local players and their families who rely on us to provide the sport that we all love. This will flow back into our elite level senior NBL1 programs from 2021 when we will fully resume our full pathway for all athletes, coaches and officials.
As a club with a rich heritage spanning generations, we have faced many challenges before and through working together, supporting our members & sponsors, and focussing on remaining viable to get our generations of participants back on court we want to provide confidence that our focus is in the right place.
Thank you for all your support in the past and looking into the future to continue that support of the game we love.

Knox to announce they are pulling out of the 2020 NBL1 season shortly.

postponing the starts is a sensible thing to do, but if we dont stop this thing now by curbing social interaction it will drag on for many many months, Scott Morrison needs to get a better hand on this, he needs to grow some balls.

I hear Dandenong are in the same boat as Geelong and will not enter any teams in either NBL1 or Big V

Big V have stated the season will be an opt-in option should one start at the end of May.
Some clubs might just simply not be able to afford to play

Clubs have been told to send imports home immediately

The delayed start dates are simply to buy time to be able to dot the Is and cross the Ts in what will happen.

Talking to someone at Basketball Victoria, NBL and Big V will NOT run this year.

It's going to be way longer than two months. Things should start returning to normal in September or October, hopefully.

Two months, hopefully we can get back to normal by then. Weekends are going to get boring not following sport.

It's official. NBL1 South season will not commence on time and no likely start date. League has suggested sending all imports home and if they have any restricted Australians do not commence their contract.

Big V charge the clubs thousands of dollars per team. Will they refund that money to the clubs?

Looks like some Big V imports will be sent home then. Big V season wont start.FTFY.

I know a couple of imports already been told that if this drags on longer than this weekend they will be sent home

Why do people think 500 is a magical number that protects people?
The ideal gathering size is one, but they obviously can't come out and recommend that.

To be honest I thought Big V would have done a better job communicating

No reason Big V games should cancelled if the rule is less than 500 people.
Is there a reason they can’t they play with out spectators?
By the sounds of it there were still games this weekend just unofficial ones. This will inevitably keep happening. I bet next week most Big V teams will be playing something. Either Intra club or Inter club.
Best Big V just follow the advice outlined and keep the attendance to the minimum.
If Nbl is doing it why not Big V?

Above if you heard you should be telling us...

I hear a few sessions (aka practice games) happening around town. Any truth to this?

Did RMIT men have a good hit out today?

Well said

It’s only going to get worse. I can’t see Any Como resuming.
