Smyth, Brooks, Caporn among 36ers Coaching Applicants
Has KB ever applied for other openings or been head hunted by other clubs? If not there's nothing wrong with that but would think if he was good enough he would have thrown hat in the ring a few times, even if it was for the experience. And clubs would have enquired on his availability.
They would have to give his application thought but this bad public split by Joey surely has hurt his chances, if Joey had walked off into sunset, no allegations against coaching staff or management and Joey had given his support I reckon he would be a front runner. But the next hire has to be a delicate one, KB does speak his mind and has alienated players before.
American coaches seemed to have struggled, Weaver had a hot start but cooled off and questionable decisions despite having maybe most talented team ever had them facing a runners up position before all the bullshit started.
Take a look in Europe, find an up and comer at smaller Euro club or even one that's a national team coach at smaller country. Despite getting sacked at Phoenix Igor Koskokov did a great job with Slovenia a couple of years ago and now head coach of Serbia. May as well take a risk on one of those than some of the boring names on the list. Would way preferred a Euro guy for boomers instead of keeping Simmons happy with Brown. And let's face it, Brown is guaranteed to get sacked before new season. Good at losing, not so good at winning and hasn't exactly set up a Spurs culture.

423. If as you say then why is his name amongst the possible coach options.. why has he been valuable ast coach for so long.
My point is he has more positives than caporn. Fear going back to marty Clarke times. Nielsen/ Bevo be ideal but apparently not interested. You may well be right KB no good but let's find out.. he is Sixers fav so will be given good honey moon period to turn club around. Can't see that being afforded an outsider.

Just saw a name that id be happy with, John Rillie. Still a rookie head coach but done a good apprenticeship in college. Better than Caporn

Won a title at woodville men.

Brooks you find took Norwood men to the promised I think. That's a pretty decent achievement. So unless coached nbl can't coach nbl.... pray how do you start. I rather b Joyce given another chance based on your theory. He not worst on that list.

Yes. Outstanding communicator... highly organized.. clear expectations... vast experience.. and works very well with limited resoures. Makes tough decisions...
Always stepped up to challenge Norwood and central and did make consider sable progress. Plus the dude could play a bit and was natural on court leader...

^thanks for that Kevin. Or more probably Jantke.

Gotta be a local. KB is only option. Restore local connection - find the next maher newley madgen ninnis. Been too long local talent ignored. Ok so might lack depth short term but rewards will come. KB only suitable local background skill set knowledge experience. Otherwise let's just recycle has beens teys walker white and bring in dud quick fix achieve nothing coaches.

Fearless would not be to bad, his teams play D and with more money he would have better players.

According to Boti both Caporn and Aaron Fearne are on the short list and Smyth has declined a coaching position.

Fearne? This gets worse by the day. Christ just appoint Gaze if these are the guys we're looking at.

Good work Triton, way to rep your club and your guy. Whilst he has an over sense of his own significance (albeit a great guy and local coach) I think he would realise he is a long way off an NBL coach as does everyone else around.

Genius move. Hire the coach you fired 20 years ago that no other club in the world has hired to coach since. Egg on every other clubs face. Sneak attack!
You go Adelaide. 36 years behind the rest of the country like your name says.

Phil has runs on board. Incredible basketball brain.. has nothing to prove vast experience.. been a winner will restore pride of the title town reputation.. must be keen and always said Sixers respond best to local leadership. KB could be succession pathway under Phil to bring continuity to program. Think Kelley is actually showing his creds...fresh start for big h. Might just be surprise package with self confidence and self belief restored.

There was a reason why Smyth lost the job 12 years ago and now people want him back again?
Any one remember him recruiting 40 year old has been and putting no effort whatsoever in developing young talent?
God help us..

Dunlap is available again after parting ways with LMU. What about even giving Worthington a look, knows league. Give him an experienced assistant and see what happens.
Pity Pitino just signed with Iona, would have given league just as big a boost as Ball and Hampton.

Paul Woolpert. he'll sort you guys out (Y)

Include Scott Roth and Adam Forde from Kings

Scott Roth should be in the mix.
Got NBA/D League experience plus one year with the Cats.
Therefore, understanding the league straight away.

Gleeson's got 2 years left on his contract with Perth and not sure Nielsen would be as desperate to come back to Australia for this job.

Adelaide should be chucking the kitchen sink at Gleeson, or Nielsen. Get someone that knows the nbl system and is good, I don’t rate ais coaches in that bracket.

Brooks with Smyth as assistant. Locked in, avoid the PR spin machine from the front office
Nope, you are wrong

Henare coming back from Japan would be best.

It's not that you exclude anyone who has mainly coached kids, it's that you exclude those who have only coached kids. Caporn has no pressure to win at the COE.
Also picking an American who has been an assistant only and never had to make in game decisions would be just as bad. Haven't we seen from Weaver's terrible performance so far how poor some of these American coaches are who spend their careers as assistants and never had to make in game decisions can be. Sure he threw out some adjustments in game two of the GF series but otherwise he has been comprehensively demolished by the other coaches in the league and is being saved by talent.

While I see the concerns he is like Marty Clarke
I'm fine with caporn
Out of the 3 named he would be my first choice
Smyth if a senior assistant I'm ok with, but don't want him as head coach
I feel we need a complete change from the Joey era so I wouldn't pick Brooks

If you exclude anyone who’s mainly coached kids and students, and anyone from Adelaide or who has coached as part of the current Adelaide crap-fest , then I wonder how many are left as contenders?

Have you all not learned from the Marty years? Don't take a coach whose only coaching experience is walking straight into a cushy AIS job.
There's plenty of assistant coaches in the league that have grinded their way up winning at multiple levels.
He's a good bloke to speak to but let another club take that risk on Caporn.

Smythe a terrible idea, need a cleanout so Brooks out and have Deja vu feeling with Caporn and Marty Clarke. Big difference in going from coaching kids to adults. And assistant to boomers doesn't count.

Forde

Owner deciding on the roster will turn off a lot of legitimate Coaching talent.
Here’s an injured ball hog and a kid who spends more minutes in the Hungry Jacks drive through than the gym, go win it lol.

Speaks volumes really this is the calibre of candidates for the position. If I had to pick one of those three I would go with Caporn.

My thoughts go out to Louisville player Kevin Ware. I don't think anybody would wish that on someone the injury that he received. I'm not sure if he will come back and play again with an injury like that.
I know Broncos Jharal Yow Yeh had a similar injury and has most likely been ruled for at least two years. But Ware's compound fracture looked worse because it was a compound fracture of the leg.
