Olympics to go ahead despite coronavirus. NBA players play?

American athletic and swim teams already saying it should be delayed a year. No way will nba players go. It won’t happen and if it does go ahead it will be so reduced in quality it’s not going to matter much.

Here's my turn to be sarcastic. Tokyo is sparsely populated, virus wouldn't spread quickly. Often seen vision of their trains having hardly any passengers on them. And packing people into the athletes village where they're going to and fro from events, nah, no danger there.

Of course it will go ahead,just think of the ratings with everyone housebound. It will be seen as a 'ray of light' type mindset with so many isolated.

I can't wait for these Olympics and with Japan's Prime Minister and Thomas Bach saying they are going ahead then they will.

I think some are underestimating the Japanese race too and how they will act in keeping the athletes sage, if this was say Rio then I wouldn't hold out much hope as they were lucky to eliminate their mosquito virus in time for their games.

When does flu season start in southern hemisphere? Despite precautions and vaccinations it hits hard in winter months. What do you think is going to happen with corona then, it'll be out of control, virtually the whole population will have it. What they are trying to do is level out the spike, medical system cannot cope with a sudden increase of cases in a short time period. What they want is the rate of infection to be spread out over a longer period of time allowing for emergency departments not to be flooded at once. If you're a fit healthy person it's probably better you contract it now while we can cope than in July when hundreds of thousands will have it.

Can you really actually believe any stats that come out of China? I'm almost certain they aren't reporting new cases/deaths etc plus they have an iron-rule over citizens so its not like someones going to say anything.

China want to look like they have it under control so they hope business confidence in China resumes (not hard to skew some stats when there is literally billions and billions of dollars at stake).

Don't believe everything you read;

The IOC are contractually obliged to stage the Olympics in 2020. Meaning it's either hosted this year or cancelled outright, that's why they are holding off for as long as possible. Dollar bills yo.

surely they cant be serious, first off who the hell would want to risk it, why not just move it to next year, this is crazy, the last thing the world needs right now is an Olympic games, unless of course they are including shopping as a major sport, many could apply for that team trial

if we followed China's protocol and pulled our heads in, we could be done within 7-8 weeks max- 80% of china is now open for business after being home isolated for 7 weeks and even their basketball league is kicking off in 2 weeks!
