There's been something like 30 or so clubs that have folded, or merged, or reformed in some other way. You cant just bring back a name because of history. Time moves on. The Magic and Giants have a big place in NBL history, but so do a lot of other clubs.
Some names are worth bringing back (eg Bullets and Kings) while other markets might be better off starting fresh and new. The NBL now is vastly different to that in the 90s, let alone when it first started. Its an evolving league. Enjoy it for what it is right now, because it will probably change again. Private ownership will do that, but that is how the league has always been. You take the good with the bad.
For the record, the Magic were born out of a merger, and only lasted 7 years before merging again (then eventually folding). As good as they were on court for a short time, they probably arent the best example of a name to bring back anyway.

It’s a shame how South East Melbourne Phoenix joined and they never considered bringing South East Melbourne Magic back nor their history.
I thought that would of been a start of something.
What’s Melbourne United now lol?

Agree, Bol and Alex. There was so much real rivalry in those days, whereas now it just seems to be media hype. And so many good local games to go to.

Spending was out of control so the leadership of both clubs were to blame.
Remember when North Melbourne would cry poor each off-season but then go offer $140,000 to someone like Tonny Jensen for a year's rental?

The merge between South East Melbourne Magic and North Melbourne Giants was terrible.
South East Melbourne Magic had 7 seasons in the NBL and made finals every year.
South East Melbourne and North Melbourne both won two championship each. Talk about all the history gone in Victoria!

dunkin dan made the call a day or two ago that uconn would win the womens ncaa easily.
