Probably not really news, but I understand Perth have had talks with several players, but are somewhat in limbo.
They are carefully monitoring Martin's rehab. Current gos is that he won't be ready, which could force them to start the season with a stop-gap DP or TP, or that he may opt to retire.
They are keeping their cards close regarding Cotton. I don't know if they could or would have any inside knowledge on the process of his application. Makes it hard to predict. If they KNEW his approval was coming, by say January, they would likely affect their recruitment.
Kay is probably gone. My understanding is that he has received European offers, but they are currently contingent.
Cats have not given up hope, because it could conceivably get to the point that Kay chooses to stay for a guaranteed salary rather than accept a covid-contingent deal in Europe.
BUT there are also rumblings that Perth may need to replace him before that happens, so it's not impossible he winds up elsewhere in the NBL.
Nothing firm on Reath. Either people don't know, aren't saying, or it too may be dependent on the covid gods. IIRC he's contracted in Serbia, but have no idea if it's a club option, or of course whther their league will go ahead.
They have "kept in contact" with a couple of local veterans, so depending on how things fall, there could yet be a surprise signing.
There is apparently mutual keenness for a White return, but it will come down to availability, imports slot(s) and money, so nothing new there.

Import sf and pf with Reath starting c maybe.

I am not sure how serious Brisbane were about contending, on the surface they were trying, afterall they recruited Sobey and developed Magnay.
The one reason I thought they weren't serious is that they got Patterson, then decided to pair him with 2 poor imports.
Braun was supposed to be the cheap budget import and his stats were not that much worse than Singlers.
Whilst I understand Patterson would have taken up a lot of the money, Singler and Braun were good fits for the team. They were OK defenders, but didn't suit roles of rebounders, or floor spacers (Singler was 44% but on 2 attempts a game).

Yes, I wonder how EJ Singler would go in the NBL. How could we possibly know how he might fare? It is a mystery.
That's also not how marquees work.

Another losing side immediately.

Roberson/Adnam
Gliddon/Gibson/Armstrong?
Te Rangi/Stephens
Creek/Trist
Wesley/Pineau
If no te Rangi, then Creek plays sf and they get another centre.

Sydney couldn’t have possibly thrown any more money at a championship last year. Ware, Bogut, Lisch, Newley would not be playing for peanuts. I assume Louzada would need to be paid fairly well too then you have Tate on import money as well. But still no cigar Kings...

Mccarron/Ili/Short(DP)
Goulding/SG? Madgen, Vasljevic, Dech, Te rangi etc
Prather/McDaniel
Barlow/White/Purchase(DP)
Import/Acuil
Cut smith Milner
Trimble and long gone

Take a look at Conklin's actions and tell me they are natural human mechanics of landing.

Creek is a tough nut and even he was staggering, he's no petal like Knight.

Import/Dillon/Mudronja
Giddey/Teys
Import/Mcveigh/Harris(DP)
Motum/Kyei
Johnson/Salt
Adel a possibility for sf

^ Someone called Liam is working overtime and suggests :
- LeBron James is after CG43 who jacked some white object.
- Some guy called Jack is sore at the 36ers.

Yet again there is no salary cap. How many times does it have to be said?
There is a Salary Cap, it's a soft cap but still one exists.

Yet again there is no salary cap. How many times does it have to be said?

With so many players reaching retirement age, it’ll be good to get some more time into those young Aussie/kiwi DPs.
How much should the salary cap go up for us to be competitive? Up to 2 mill?

We are talking about the EU leagues. That's all. Are you now saying they can't exist without planes flying? Maybe like the WNBL they will have no imports? Or perhaps the NBL will have no imports either. Get with it knobhead? Those 2 quotes aren't from the same person either. So much time on your hand clearly.

NOne of the above.

Only last week the “World” recorded the single highest day of confirmed cases. This isn’t going away quickly.

Most euro competitions will start up again in September/ October, plus all there leagues. Germany are playing at present to finish this season, Israel shortly.

He’s on more coin in Europe, nbl can’t compete in a normal season, let at all when wages are halfed

sorry for repeat.

I remember reading, about 2 to 3 wks ago, that both the Eurocup & Euroleague cancelled for this year. Has that changed?

So where is your evidence Kr that the EU basketball will be shut down until mid next year at least?

No but domestic leagues are restarting, only the continental competitions have been cancelled.

I want a citation for you stating earlier that EU basketball wont be back until mid next year.

Anyone who is not signed now is a free agent I believe. Do clubs have till end of moth to sign there players still ? It’s all very confusing.

That's a team ten years ago would have been great, now stocks in deep heat will skyrocket, looking real old. Bogut and Lisch were old too but if Newley and Kickert are expected to be a couple of your top locals then Weaver will have to get some really good imports that'll stay on court most of game. And not having Bogut roaming the key will hurt and perimeter mistakes.

Import/Bruce-1
Dech-2-1
Madgen/Kenyon-2

"When the new salary measures came in, what was it 4 or so years ago, Melbourne and Sydney were definitely the ones leading the charge.
Sydney last season were easily streets ahead of everyone else."

That’s because they get 15000 people every game. And to the victor goes the spoils..

How can someone be on here saying Gleeson can’t coach, can’t recruit? White won them a championship a few years ago, Cotton is, well Cotton. Kay went to another level when he came to Perth and Mitch Norton is going to have an impact this year. Oh and he has a few championships here and there? There are a few NBL coaches out there who wish they “couldn’t coach” like him!! Geeez!
