Big v return date 2025 the way Victoria is going

Hearing quite a few teams back training.
Will the season eventually run? With numbers increasing at the rate they are, what will happen?

What now??????

With the increase in cases in Victoria will something still happen?

The EOI is not due till June 29 so difficult to get a read on how many as yet.

Agree! Communication should have been much better!

The Big V should perhaps just merge this season with the CBL over summer.

Only 13 out of almost 70 clubs?

13 confirmed EOI

Does anyone know when the results of the EOI survey will be released?

What are you hearing around NBL1? Please share

That is right above. Waiting on further announcements around Nbl1 well in Vic.

I hear most Big v teams will not be paying players. Smart move I reckon

Can NBL1 clubsYouth league teams enter senior Divisions of Big V?

I think there will be quite a few NBL1 clubs in SCM /SCW

NBL1 clubs can enter big v in this format

You have to have been registered with that club to play with it. But my understanding (right or wrong) is it is open to all Victorian clubs (Big V or NBL1)

Most clubs sent imports home so money will be saved there.
Everything will be fine with a shorter season. Negative people just want to put out there every possible issue / worst case scenario that could possibly come up.
Reality is clubs will get teams on the floor and season will happen.

Clubs have been advised to not pay players unless they can afford it. I know one club out in the west of Melbourne has told all their paid players there will not be any payments this season.

Re: above
The plan is for registration costs to be reduced by 50% or more because of a shortened season and possibly smaller rosters.
I believe there is also a federal relief granted available for clubs ($5000) and associations ($15000) due to the circumstances from COVID.

Will only be open to players who had previously registered with a team for this Big V Season

Seems Big V will have a shortened season
At this stage it looks like it will be a 10 week home and away season plus finals starting in early August
- Top 4 finals series.
- No promotion and relegation of teams from the final 2020 ladder positions for the 2021 season.
- The competition will be opt-in by teams that want to.
Clubs will vote on it this week

Like someone said in another thread yesterday... VJBL is set for July 17 start, Big V looking to start shortly thereafter and run through October possibly early November.

Any news from the Big V?

What if associations want to play..

Looking at what the state government has said there is no reason Big V wouldn't be back by the end of July.

Looks like we all might get in 1 training session a week, non contact with full team from 22nd if State Government follow Federal lead.

So is there any legitimacy to the July 18th restart plan? Or what are we doing here...where did you hear that from?

Oh did something leak from Big V?? Who would have thought....

Good point. Vic Government practically gave the big thumbs up to mass public gatherings without social distancing.
Might as well allow basketball games.

Given the way the Covid case numbers are progressing in Victoria, by then there would be no reason not to have a season of some sort kick off

Big V has said that any comp that happens this year will not impact promotion/relegation and it will be optional participation.
I reckon most clubs would enter.

JOEY Wright today will be named the 11th coach of the Adelaide 36ers, starting a journey of redemption for the once mighty NBL club.
The man who steered Brisbane Bullets to the NBL championship in 2006-07 has accepted a three-year deal to restore the Sixers to their former greatness.
"I think with the roster it is realistic to aim for the championship," Wright said.
"That's the goal.
"The reality of sport is you set out to do one thing and you might come underneath that. So if your goal is just to play finals and you fall short?
"If we can keep Gibbo (Adam Gibson) then we start from a strong position.
"But I've only just got the job and have so far had zero contact with the players."
