The whole "free ride" thing is utter crap and only used by those who want an excuse to continue to marginalise a group of people who suffer some of the worst health outcomes in the world, and especially so when compared to other developed countries. The generational disadvantage suffered by indigenous Australians is a direct result of policy and pretending like this can be undone without greater assistance shows a complete lack of understanding of how social policy works.

You are right, at policy level now, things are better. The racism now is certainly more subtle and to a point more subjective.

All of this positive policy direction loses some steam when the PM claims that there was never any slavery in Australia, when the disadvantage that many indigenous people in Australia face now is as a direct result of generational disadvantage as a result of slave labour, dispossession and stolen wages.

It’s hard enough for women’s basketball as it is without all this crap.

The average women height is 5’4 in Aus, she is 15 inches taller than the average women.
In China she’s 18 inches taller.

Dude, a 6’8 women stands out,... I’ve seen her out and about in Melbourne and she gets gawked at non stop.

Feel bad for her really, being 6'8 women of colour and standing out like dogs balls plus the fact her father was not around would have had such a huge effect on your mental health. Liv simmons, another outspoken individual I believe suffers from bipolar so u have to take that into account.

Cambage is the biggest “racist” around when it suits her narrative , opals not training lol.....well no one is , and when your coach is on the other side of the world , on a continent hit hard by this virus, players scattered everywhere and travel restricted.... well it’s pretty obvious they won’t be training

BA have put out a statement, dated 14th June, but added to social media this afternoon:

Basketball in Australia is a sport for all, bringing together people of any race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation and ability under the shared values of respect, teamwork, trust and understanding.


For decades, Australian basketball – from grassroots to the elite level – has been enriched by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people of colour.

Recent events in the United States makes it clear that as a global family we must work harder to eradicate racism, discrimination and injustice.

These issues are significant in Australia too. In 1991, there was a Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. Since then, a further 437 deaths in custody of Aboriginal people have occurred. Not a single person has been held responsible for any of these deaths.

Basketball Australia is committed to eliminating racism and discrimination in all its forms and acknowledges we all have a role in building a more tolerant and just society.

Under the leadership of our Co-Chairs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members Paul Vandenbergh and Cilla Preece we have developed a Reconciliation Action Plan which is now with Reconciliation Australia. We have also commenced the development of a Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, which highlights cultural diversity as a key pillar of our framework.

This is important work and it takes time. It requires difficult conversations and it must be supported by action.

We stand side by side in solidarity with black communities, here at home and around the world, in proclaiming that Black Lives Matter.

Liz Cambage, patty mills, Ben Simmons, dante Exum, thon maker, deng Adel, Xavier Cooks, josh green, kouat Noi, Jonah bolden, Dyson Daniels, fiston Ipassou, josh duach, tyrese Proctor, David okwera, Jeffrey ofoedu, Ezi Magbegor, Agnes Emma Nnopu, shaneice Swain, India Bowyer, nyadiew puoch etc,etc etc. I’m sure I’m missing quite a few that have represented aus(BA) in recent times.


So far, 1 person is not happy with BA.
I would like to know what others on the list think about BA before making judgement.

They don't have any games planned so well done.

Would Homicide be an option for Adelaide at the right price? he seems to be in great form in Lebanon and if he came cheap enough you could spend decent money on a good 3/4 import know that you have Homicide that is proven at the level already.

I think that Joey could handle his personality well and he would definately bring excitement to the game as well as great penetration to the key area.

either way I think that he is worth consideration at the right price.
