Cairns playing home games in old Bunnings
Lowest scores are just the beginning.

Although most businesses in cairns will be affected by the downturn in tourism numbers few of the Taipans major sponsors are directly linked to tourism itself. CQU are the major sponsor and have backed their involvement with the Taipans despite issues with international student recruitment. Their sports science courses and facilities are also tied up with the Taipans so doubt they are going anywhere. Other local businesses may struggle but expect builders such as kenfrost/Dixon etc. and seaswift to continue as key supporters. The former are being buoyed by govt investment and the latter aren't as exposed to COVID as many other companies.

should move aWay from these stadiums and lk build his own for each team.
10-15,000 seat stadiums with some food and amenities aren’t that expensive. In comparison to these other places.

I suspect the biggest issue will be non members being able to access ticket. They average over 4k to every home game, that's 2k of people who will miss out.

Why not change entrancebtomstadium? And setup outdoor food and toilets.

"It's weird that the stadium is not being upgraded, just the functionnrooms and external look etc
For a 126 mill, upgrade, might as well put it towards an actual new stadium."
Not really, it's a convention centre which has a secondary function as a basketball venue in the wet season when it's harder to attract bookings. It's a massive revenue earner for the city and is booked solid outside of basketball season. Cairns convention centre has had to routinely turn away larger conventions and events til now as it hasn't had the capacity; this upgrade will refresh the facilities and position it to be able to run larger events. Great news for Cairns and for local businesses.

Everyone assumes that Cairns Bunnings moved opposite the old Masters site to go head to head with Masters, but that's not the whole story. That move happened because they discovered that the foundations weren't done right and the whole building was slowly sinking into the ground. No danger in the short term but a new tenant would be mad to take it on over the longer term.
