Wigness: Bullets, Blanchfield: Perth, Dech: 36ers...
Blanchfield will be this year's lucas walker for the wildcats

Pretty sure there was at least a hint of sarcasm in there.
Big Plums is almost definitely not returning.
Yes, we'll use the import spot to get a PF, trying for something in the Kay mold, but no idea who.
IF Cotton is naturalising in time, we'd be going for an import SF.
Be interesting to see if the Blanchfield rumour is true, as that would seem to indicate a lack of confidence in the naturalisation scenario.
Looks like we'll need another Aussie centre, or maybe a 4/5.

Steindl and Blanchfield would be able to share the 3, just like Terrico and Clint were able to do.
Blanchfield just turned 29 and will be looking to pick up an NBL championship. I think Blanchfield is the saving piece for the Wildcats. Allows them to sign the import 4.
Blanchfield was better than Terrico in NBL20 when performing;
1. Pick & Roll Ball Handler Plays
2. Post Up Plays
3. Spot Up Plays
4. Hand Off Plays
5. Cut Plays
6. Off-Screen Plays
Terrico was better than Terrico in NBL20 when performing;
1. Pick & Roll Roll/Pop Man Plays
2. Transition Plays
3. Isolation Plays
4. Put Back Plays
Blanchfield was more productive off the ball than Terrico last year. The Wildcats used Off-Screen plays 9% of the time in NBL20 (highest in the league). That is in comparison to the NBL average of 4% of plays. Blanchfield converted 1.11 points per Off-Screen play, Terrico converted 0.82 points per Off-Screen play, and the NBL average was 1.06 points per Off-Screen play.
Blanchfield would easily be able to be a 3rd option scorer for the Wildcats behind Cotton and an Import 4. This would be a big problem for other NBL teams.

Perth is getting an import at the 4. Plumlee and Blanchfield. Terrico is returning as Cotton will be an Australian citizen.

"If Wigness is on a Bullets roster, he gets what 5-10 minutes. Is it worth it?"
For a Next Stars' game-time benchmark, Terry Armstrong played a total of 18 minutes, in 8 games of a 28 game regular season, last season (from Spatial Jam historical NBL statistics). Was it worth it? I don't know. Maybe he learned a lot from being training bait and occasional player in a pro league?

Blanchfield helps especially losing Kays ability to step out.
Blanchfield shot 32% from 3 last year, Kay shot 46%.
One could surmise that Cotton's gravity and Gleeson's schemes will create better looks for Blanchfield as you suggested, but I just don't see Blanchfield as an efficient outside scorer.
I'd take Stiendl over Blanchfield for outside shooting. Blanchfield may be a slightly better all-rounder but no where near covers Kay.

"Sixers still hamstrung by Wright's stupid signings. It will take 3-4 years to sort that mess out."
That doesn't seem right.
The only players still on contracts from Wright's era are Dillon (last season of contract coming up - 2020-21), McVeigh (last season 2020-21), Kyei (last season 2020-21), Randle (last season 2020-21), Mudronja (last season 2021-22). Note that Randle's contract has a team option for 2020-21, so the 36ers could have released him.
Upshot is that, of these 'Wright-era signings', only Mudronja will remain on contract after the coming NBL season. And he'll only be there for one more season.
I'm pretty sure all other players signed for the 2020-21 season have been signed (re-signed in Johnson's case) after Wright left the club.
This is based on the Aussie Hoopla free agent tracker and Obi Kyei's Wikipedia page.

I'd happily take Blanchfield .....Cotton demands double teams and we need shooters to surround him.
Blanchfield helps especially losing Kays ability to step out.
Cotton - Steindel - Blanchfield ......if we can land a decent big that will stretch teams.

Teams are deeper now, can't compare a few seasons ago to now. the rosters will continue to get deeper going forward.
True, but my point was simply that we don't always what we think of as a perfect 2x(1~5). Coaches have different ideas, and to some extent have to use what they've got or what they can get.
As a hypothetical example, we might look at Adelaide and conclude they are shallow at the 3, so Blanchfield would be a good fit. But maybe JVG and Henry think McV is a star SF, and they are weak at the 2?
OR, maybe Blanchfield's not interested, but someone else is.

Blanchfield would be an adequate replacement for Terrico. This provides the cats the flexibility to sign an import 4.
I like the idea of Todd to Perth.

I’ve known and played against Sunday for years in WA. Legit 6”3/4, good size and moves well

Blanchfield to Perth?
It doesn't exactly have me cheering, I think he's been over-rated and under-delivered everywhere he's been, but the reality is we need a local 2 or 3.
Stiendl can play the 3, and if we're two down then he could start.
But could equally say that his best value is as an outside gunner off the bench.

Some people get very invested and obsessed with what they think a team should look like, and how and where they think a player should be used.
Perth won a championship with a bench comprised of Kenny, Hire, Wagstaff, Redhage, and Jervis.
Some players can be flexible, coaches have different offences and different roles they want from players, and sometimes their vision & plan for a player just doesn't match yours.
If Dech fits what Henry wants, then why not Adelaide?

Are all teams running one import this year? Or is that just an Adelaide thing?
It's a JvG thing to make himself feel smart and innovative.

Why would Dech go to the 36ers?
As I understood it reading the article we're the only team that's offered him a 3 year deal.

Why would Dech go to the 36ers? Can’t imagine it’s the most attractive spot. Can’t offer minutes vs Hawks and probably can’t offer money vs New Hawks ownership either?

Are all teams running one import this year? Or is that just an Adelaide thing?
Just an Adelaide thing by the looks of it, JVG used to do the same at the Kings. He's said we will start the season with one import and may look to sign a second one later in the season.

Newbill would be a great fit especially with Cairns trying to re-sign Oliver instead.

Dech 6'5"? Wow I thought he looked 6'3" if he was lucky last season but 6'5" is his listed height.

Sixers supposedly the favourite to sign Sunday Dech offering him a 3 year deal.
Here we all were thinking the last local signing was going to be Blanchfield the Dech signing would be interesting probably means McVeigh starting at SF.
Humphries/Pinder
Johnson/Kyei
McVeigh/Teys
Dech/Dillon
Import/Giddey/Mudronja

Blanchfield? Can we at least be linked to someone young or good
The Wildcats already have that in Travers.
I wouldn't bet on him getting much court time though

At the conclusion of a gruelling two-hour training session at the University of Maryland, Washington State's 2013 NBA Draft Prospect Brock Motum shoots 102/143 (71.3%) from NBA three point range. (5/8/2013)
