Webster, Trist, Galloway Sign with Breakers
Breakers have posted career highlights of trist to Facebook. All long jumpers or fade aways.

I wasn't a fan of vodanavich playing centre, but I'd take him over trist

Ater Majok and majok majok are better than trist

Yes Timmins hasn't really come on. But neither did Abercrombie in the us college system (both went to colleges in Washington).
Wynyard is overweight, but boy you can see his talent level. Footwork, touch.
They go there and are role players on the top teams. The lower divisions are better for their development imo. But that's another story.
Anyway, I'd prefer to watch timmins, salt, wynard, than some Aussie stiff.

For a period, NZ looked like it would all of a sudden have a plethora of quality bigs following Adams. However, Salt, Timmins and Wynyard have all not managed to continue their development. In some ways, Salt has reached his own athletic limits given the way the game is played now and Wynyard had a crippling back injury, but Timmins really stunted. I really do wonder if college remains the best route for Kiwi talent especially the major programs.
Wynyard, however, is still worth a punt. He looks a bit weighty in NZ NBL, but I think with the right coaching and some time he still has the strength and craftiness.
How is Trist off the court? While Walsh said all the right things about Vodanovic, maybe Shamir and co are trying to improve the off court culture and bringing in guys that can be good around the locker room?

Timmons is barely dominating NZNBL.
A change in coaches stunted his development at Washington.
Tai Wynyard may be keen to stick with the Taipans as a DP.
Injuries have stopped him reaching his potential or anything close to.
Jack Salts knee injury is more serious than first thought, he won’t be playing this season.

Yes Loe could be gone to kagawa with henare and Vague

Timmons ain’t that good, went down hill.

Team could be
New Zealand Breakers-Shamir
6’4 T.Webster/6’1 J.Weeks
6’2 C.Webster/SG(NS)
6’7 S.Hopson(I)/6’6 T.Abercrombie
6’6 F.Delany/6’10 Y.Wetzell/6’9 D.Trist
6’9 B.Ashley(I)/6’11 R.Loe
DP
6’6 T.Li PG
6’5 T.Murray SG?
6’8 K.Galloway PF
6’10 T.Wynyard C?

i saw rob loe was playing in japan

If wetzell has NBA workouts, give him an NBA outclause
Timmins?

Wetzell, salt, Fotu, darling look to be gone.

Love the Galloway signing but have no clue why the hell theyd sign Dan Trist. What the hell was Matt Walsh thinking?

Galloway is a three year deal.
Plenty of upside. I like this signing.

I think PyroCross has it right, Rausbatch off the bench.
He didn’t look out of place last season and won’t cost a ton.

My concern is that Terry Li and Galloway have to be on the playing roster in 21/22 and I don't know where those slots are appearing from. As much as Galloway is intriguing as a 6'8' stretch talent, with the amount of potential NZ college talent - why not go Kiwi?
With an import 5, and Hopson/Abercrombie playing stretches at the 4, Trist won't play much in this front court. He's fine as a 10th man, but like others have asked, is Tohi Smith-Milner or Jordan Ngatai that much worse than Trist that you needed an Aussie?
Assuming my hunch on Ethan Rusbatch is correct:
Loe / Import*
Delany / Trist
Hopson / Abercrombie
C.Webster / Rusbatch
T.Webster / Weeks
With Abercrombie to close.

Galloway I'm okay with.
With all the talented NZ bigs around why trist?

Trist I thought had a decent rep before joining the NBL, so maybe Shamir still sees potential there??
Plus I guess its the same old story, with the squads back to 10, and presumably the 5-man cap still in place, you need a couple of really cheap guys to allow your 6~7 guys to be reasonable.

Moneke’

Did noneke ever get his citizenship?
Where’s jois?

6’8 3 point shooting pf from Australia just out of college.

Webster, Webster, hopson, delany, Ashley starting 5 = high cost
Backups...
Weeks, Abercrombie, trist, Loe (Rusbatch, Murray, darling?)

Trist. Wtf

Wetzell cant be ns, he hasn’t been signed by nba team and stashed or 18y.o.

Wetzel may be signed as a next star (?) or has prioritised playing in Europe over the NBL

Also good to see they're prioritising Scotty Hopson. I watched him in a warmup and he was hitting three's from nearly half-court. Guy is legit.

Trist real cheap, Webster expensivve

Interesting to see Trist got a deal with the Breakers? Also, good to see the NBL spell check their articles ("inriguing").

Trist wtf, nomwetzell then.

Mavs - Sturt
Women: MOTR. Mavs are having a great season and an undefeated Sturt see every game as winnable. Picking a winner will be trickier than unlocking a Canadian i-phone. Better make sure the refs are on the ball. The key to beating the Mavettes is controlling Tess. I expect Sturt will be all over her like coppers on a hydroponic drug crop. In the end the refs will be tired of blowing their whistles and Sturt should remain undefeated.
Men: Well, well Sturt finally enter a game against someone they should be able to beat. Mavs need to get a wriggle on, or else be accused of making up the numbers this year. No banjo playing tonight as Sturt take the honours.
Flames-Lions
Women: For the Lionesses aspiring to play WNBL, tonight they will see the standard that is needed. At the Mars dining hall tonight. Roasted Lion. If Simon strolls on court with a pith helmet, run for cover.
Men: Fans of ABL will be in for a treat as The Millard & Miller show hits court. Lions men cruzing nicely this season and while the Flames have been up there and competitive, they won’t be adding to their home wins tally tonight. The Flames team looks stronger on paper, but the Lions seem to have a lot of things falling into place for them.
Tigers - Eagles
Women: My heart says Tigers, but my head says Eagles. The Eagles seem a little bland this year without any scoresheet controversies. Tigeresses are playing better than expected and while an Eagles win should be on, if there’s going to be an upset, then this is the game.
Men: “Welcome to Morphett Vale” That’s what Rashad will be saying to his former teammates tonight. For a team written off at the start of the season the Tigers are going nicely. Both teams have beaten South and the hapless Sturt, but Forestville have won by just that little bit more. The Eagle should land tonight, but The Rash knows their plays and so a delicious upset beckons.
Cats - Rockets
Women: Another classic North-West arm wrestle looms. All the Bearcat’s wins have been away and have lost 3 straight at home. North have been quietly doing what they do best and will make sure the Cats keep counting home losses on one hand. Norf to crush their hopes like an empty iced coffee carton in the carpark.
Men: North supporters are salivating at their new signing. Belly’s Bearcats seem unstoppable but The Peach might have other ideas and may even offer to tuck DJ’s pants for him, then again maybe not. This game is now looking a whole lot tighter and the Bearcats will be under more pressure than Andrew Johns and Tommy Waterhouse at a Steward’s inquiry. If Westies drop a game this season it’ll be this one. They shouldn’t, but Westies fan better wear the brown jocks just in case.
Warriors - Pathers
Women: The Xenas (Warrior Women) got a win last round and South are still looking for that elusive first up win. Both teams are putting up similar shots on goal in a game, but I like to look at a team’s OR difference because it shows how hungry they are around the key. Panthers are -14 for the season and the Xenas are -5 for the season. That’s good enough for me. Xenas to get this one at home.
Men: Panthers opened up their account last round, but with Al’s men on the warpath, they will find it difficult to sink their claws into another victory so soon. Resurgent Warriors will reward the faithful home crowd as they seek to cement a top 3 spot.
We all know Sunday is Mother’s Day and so in honour of Mother’s Day, a little “Dad joke” for you budding tongmasters to tell around the BBQ …..
“Did you hear about the wheelchair basketballers that have been banned after they tested positive for WD40?” Yes, I know that was pathetic …that’s why it’s a Dad Joke.
