But Jirachi, I'm just saying Webber is a much better player then Benson - backed up by numbers and a majority ;)

When an offensive player goes for a rebound by tapping the ball it is assumed that he/she is trying to guide the ball into the basket hence the 'put back' call which the computer interprets as 'offensive rebound' and 'shot attempt' by that player. As for match payments based on statistics, ask Paul Rees that question and see what his answer is.

Yo Big Johnsen bag it up...Ng scored his points on Bell. If Webber's team is going to give him free reign to shoot, then by all means, let the kid shoot and see if he can handle it....which he very much can.

You are right. Four putbacks means four missed shots. Put yourself in the position of player who gets those stats. What would the coach be saying to him about his shooting style? I do not think that players like to see stats like that on their record. The offense rebound is good but the missed shot is not. In some professional teams the players match payments depend on the weighting given to the players stats for that particular game and volunteers record the stats. I can see the day when a player whose payment is reduced might sue the statistician for incorrectly awarding a negative stat to the player. Heaven forbid that this might happen. If it does????

I was at the game. Great atmosphere, great result. I think you will find that P. Bauer had five ordinary fouls and one Technical. Oscar F. who was the winning difference between the teams had one block that was clearly visible to the stats people. If he had others they were among a forest of arms and I have been told that stats people must not use a guessometer when they do their thing. Pasadena stats people are the toughest in the business and Oscar got a heap of defending rebounds because Southern had a disgraceful shooting percentage. (A guessometer is a way of producing stats with your eyes closed, not terribly accurate).

Excellent review Issac. Being a Tiger fan, it was a dissappointing display by our boys. If someone told me prior to the game that the tigers would restrict sturt to 78 points, i would say we would have won, perhaps easily. For a team to score 66 in a half against norwood, 116 against fville, but to be kept to 65 here, tells the story. The way the boys played, they did not deserve to win, simply, not potent enough offensively (poor shooting to blame <30% FG%).
To comment on the game overall, there are both promising signs and major concerns for Sturt overall. I like the way they had a good spread of scorers. Credit to Southern keeping some of the guns quiet. As the match unfolded, it was spurts of good individual play by Forman, Bauer, Shepherd and Wilkey that kept the score ticking over for the sabres. Another +ve is keeping a team to 65 shooting at <30%, credit their defensive intensity, making the tigers catch the ball way outside the arc. Of concern though must be their inability to post a winning score. By that i mean close to 100. Now, i am a southern supporter, but from memory, the Sabres have struggled to put up in excess of 80 for consequtive games now, not ideal running into the post season.
I guess the good news to come from that is, there is room for improvement on a system that has claimed Southern and Eastern in consequtive weeks.
From a Tiger point of view:
1. Gerlach looked very classy. Could have taken any or all of the sabres defenders on.
2. I think Bowley played good D on Forman. Forman finished with 21 points on 8/18, and it was only a period in the second quarter where Oscar looked dominant 4/4 from the field including the nice 2 hand dunk. Incidently it was when Bowley was taking a rest.
3. That was their worst game for the year (that i have seen) and to go down by 13, whilst not reflecting the closeness of the contest, is probably still a good result. Play like that next week against woodville and it will be a whole lot uglier!!!
4. Stats ppl at pasadena need glasses. Forman played well, but 20 DRB seems excessive, also the lack of Blocks being credited (Gerlach and Forman) and if Bowley had 5 TRB i must have been watching something else...

Last night - A Webber confirmed his status as an ABL Starting 5 player with a shutdown job on Darren Ng! After hittin alot of tough shots over Christian Bell, Webber did his job well harrassing and keeping him out of the game.
The only thing that kept Woodville in at the end was Norwood's foul shooting - going into the last few minutes comfortable, Norwood missed 7 consecutive foul shots!
Managed to hold on by 2 in the end!

Time to speak in defence of the statitiscians I guess.
Unfortunately, if you happen to click on the wrong player, as they are coming on court, the system registers it, until you realise your error.
Did you perhaps geta copy of the stats before they had been checked off as official?
I know that every half and full time, I always check points and fouls against the official score sheet, and we rectify anything that we may have missed (thankfully, not very often).
Blocks are very subjective to call, and I know I miss some from time to time.
Sounds loike a good game, wish I had gone, but I caught a stomach bug and wasnt venturing anywhere far from home :)
