DJ, that was infact the exact wording that were used tonight in reference to the Freeman signing on the news tonight, they said that the club was very close to signing him.
Most of us understand that the Club cannot official ANNOUNCE the signing until the NBL approves it but surely they could release something after said player has signed prior to NBL approval -
Something along the lines of they are in talks with Player and he is very close to signing, or they are pending NBL approval? Especially considering they were very quick to make some news regarding other imports that seem to be the smoke screens mentioned.
Every other club seems to be able to get something out there but the Sixers always throw out the excuse that they arnt allowed to announce anything until NBL approval. Why?!
One would presume it was heard on SEN - Sports Radio - that would a) be the only radio station here in Melbourne with basketball coverage and b) be the only station/place that could possibly know before Adelaide media. Some of you may be aware of Andrew Gazes heavy involvement with the station.
